** spoiler alert ** THE GOOD: Dorina was a formidable character to relate with. After the second chapter, I was pretty much agreeing with whatever she had to do, rooting for the underdog that she was. My favorite character Olga was hilarious, and pretty much all characters in this book were endearing, charming, and funny. I have to say this book had more comedy in it than the Cassie Palmer series. Or maybe that's just my sense of humor. Oh, and the ending of this book was not too cliched either (only if you view the woman that betrayed the lover (sort of, I don't think she really did) and then is left alone). THE BAD: The flashback memories. At one point there were three gazillion, and I was like: "this is too much". And I skipped over them. Sure, they were nice and described nice cinematography, but I was not interested, and read on to find out what was happening n o w. (All though some of the first ones when presented alone in a chapter were very intriguing) Do not skip the one about Drac, Mircea and Dorina! AND THE RANDOM: This book was great, a page turner, had me up till two reading it (I had school the next day). So read it during the week if you are a fan of Karen Chance's Books.

This was a very interesting look at life after death, Mitch Albom wrote a great emotional novel, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I love Frankie’s character. I would like to think that is the tough, smart, keep up with the boys, take no guff person I would have been as a teen. But maybe I’m just flattering myself. I love some of the pranks pulled, and would love to have seen that type of thing in real life. Matthew was so passive with her sometimes, and corrected her so often, that started to get to me. On the other hand, I think that Alpha was a good match for her, and would like to have seen them together. Not today, but maybe 10 years down the road. But I also understand why that couldn’t work, at least for now (I’m not going to spoil the book and tell you why :P) On the other hand, I found it a little hard for me to relate that she was a jewish teenager in boarding school, but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the book. In fact, I think it was the opposite. I was a little curious. And a little jealous. I always wondered what it would be like to go to boarding school. I even skipped the whole ‘college experience’ as I took night classes all the way through as I worked. My choice at the time, but now sometimes when I look back, I wonder what I missed. My big pet peeve would be the ending. I found the punishment unrealistic. Especially in these times of zero tolerance. But, it was a good ‘read’, and kept me quite amused through some other tasks. =D

I read it today. I liked High Fidelity better. This is not much of a review. But if you could only read one Nick Hornby book read High Fidelity. If you like it, read About a Boy.

I put this book off for a very long time. It was a gift back in '07 I think, maybe earlier than that. I had picked it off the book shelf several times and always put it back. But now I am really glad I read it. This is a terrific book. Great story, great beginning, middle, end. It is very sad, but provides hope. All in all, 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend to anyone.

Guachos! Caudillos! These South American cowboys and barbarians are such fucking men. Best passage of the book: when the guacho, with the "gristled visage of an Arab" stands, holding a poncho in one hand--with which to thrust into the maw of the beast--and a dagger in the other, so that when the tiger leaps the guacho stands strong and stone-facedly transfixes the heart of the great cat with his dagger. The rest of the book is pretty boring. Some kind of history/geography lesson about Argentina, nationalism, and a machiavellian rise to power. Whatever...

A great read. It assumes that you are a liar and manipulator by nature, but once you get past that, it's a fascinating study. Some great annecdotes from famous figures in history make it enthralling in parts.

Great read. Some Spanish words but it's pretty simple to figure out, I only have high school spanish under my belt.
