This is one of those seven or so books that I keep loaning out to people because I think they just have to read them--and never get the books back. I have bought four copies of Watchmen since I first read it for a Graphic Novels class. I remember being completely astonished by the plot when I first read it, but the thing that keeps me coming back to it is the way all the stories, all the details and side plots, are brought together by the end and unified.

I love this series. It's really sweet and happy. This one was a bit different than the others, Kaitlin has a breif run as a party girl (although her behavior was no where near as bad of actual celebrities that party nonstop.) Good fun, easy read.

This is a tricky read -- I've recommended it to lots of people but not everyone loves it. Honestly I'm really just in love with the first 2/3 of it before it shifts into a different perspective and voice. The writing style is really beautiful and poetic -- not something I usually like since poetic writers tend to try too hard and you can tell which lines they sweated over. But Michaels has a powerful narrative style and it's worth reading slowly. Maybe I was able to appreciate it because I read this in college and we had a great discussion section. This might be a good selection for a thoughtful book club.

Its geared toward adolescent readers, however, if you've been to high school and weren't a part of the "Heathers," then you will relate. Especially females. Though it deals with high school and rape, this is NOT a trite or repeat story. Its fresh with the most consistant adolescent voice I've heard: sarcastic, observant, witty, and self-concious.

I must admit I read this book because of the cover. The writing isn't great but the plot was passable and the characters slightly endearing. The sex was hot but somewhat annoying, lol.

** spoiler alert ** I had read this book in Spanish, and I didn't get the last part of the book. However, i think this book is sad, and I wont say I relate to the character because of course, I am not a prostitute- I think that's what confused me a bit. Maria doesn't like anything that shes going through, and she didn't have a choice at first but I think she could have been smart about the situation. Maybe she was desperate for money and helping her family, but I think its "fate" for her? In the beginning of the book she talks about masturbation and how she tried most of the things her friends had "suggested", and in some parts I thought maybe she decided she would consider being a prostitute. I thought her family would be smart and not let her go... and again, I was really confused with most of the parts in the book. Maybe, I need to read it again? In English of course.
