I guess my problem with this book was that certain things aren't mentioned. The 13 reasons presented on the tapes weren't really bad, not bad enough to commit suicide, at least the majority of them. Hannah must've had problems before, because her "downfall" happened so quickly. All she needed was a little push. But that's never mentioned, not with one word. Reason why I gave 4 stars though is that I almost read the whole thing in a day, it's exciting and you just wanna know what's on the next tape. Also, it leaves you thinking at the end... Maybe if people weren't so blind (on purpose?), so careless with other people's feelings, things would be different.

A couple of the stories were OK, but I am finding that Stephen King is MUCH darker than his older books. I'm not someone who needs happy endings or butterflies and unicorns, but at the same time, it gets very wearing and depressing after awhile. By the time I finished the book, I was totally drained. The people in these stories are not likeable at all, so it's hard to root for them, or even care what happens. King used to be my favorite author, but more and more often, I am disappointed in his books.

"Tribes: We Need You to Lead Us" is an easy read from Seth Godin that presents the case for why You should be leading. Everybody can inspire a tribe towards collective action, regardless of where they sit in an organisation, and this book challenges you to step up, lead and challenge the status quo. There are some great snippets of information throughout, and I agree with most of what he is suggesting re Leadership, although there is also a hate message re Management that I think is a bit too strong. It is a good book for motivation and whilst not prescriptive in how to lead provides some good pearls of wisdom for leading in the digital age.

Now I'll admit, there was so much hype over this novel (more so because of the movies, I think). I decided to give it a shot, falling for the hype. The book starts out rather slow and continues that pace for quite some time (and recurs off and on throughout the book). For me, that was the only downside to the entire book. Lisbeth Salander instantly grabs the reader and makes you want to know more. There is so much to her life and even by the end of the book, you are left with a desire to know more about her and to see where her life will lead. Larsson builds a strong base for his characters and has given them so much personality that they seem almost alive in the ink of the pages. Salander is filled with secrets and a strong disdain for the world in general. Blomkvist shows that not all journalists have lost their integrity, something very hard to come by in the industry today... Their separate tales mesh together in such a natural way. The writing style is smooth and easy to follow. The mystery behind it all keeps you guessing until the very end. Larsson knew what he was doing when he wrote this book.
