When are they gonna bust this one as a fake 'memoir'? How could anyone live like this and come out normal? A fabulous, fascinating look at the childhood I'm glad I didn't have!! This is one of the first books I've read in a while that kept me up late.

Still rounding out my exposure to WWII via fiction and non-fiction. The actions of the French law enforcement in Paris are important, and little known, parts of history. I enjoyed both the historical and modern-day story-lines. The connections were far-fetched, yet believable. Some of it was predictable, but it still made an emotional impact. I'm not generally a crier, at least I don't think of myself that way, but I did get "choked up" a couple of times.

The Beholder is one of the creatures in D&D created entirely in the imagination of the creators of the game, and has always been one of my favorite monsters. This supplement adds some depth to the creatures along with some interesting variants to keep PC's guessing. I liked the concept of different Dominions which battle for supremacy, and the variants (including the humanoid Eyekin, a possible PC class). The only thing that I think this supplement could have benefited from is a detailed description of a Beholder Outpost or,even better, an Eyehold. This would have really helped a DM visualize and set-up Beholder encounters. All-in-all, the guide is very good.
