Totally wish I wasn't in the dark of this book before Oprah. I've been offhandedly studying the Holocaust for years, and this was just... no words can describe it. Another book I read in one night.

This is a story of a friendship between two young boys of different means. Their friendship is symbolized by their teamwork in the kite running race - vey interesting in itself. However, when the lack of character and a lie spoil their bond, the story becomes tragedy. It is beautifully and sensitively written. I saw the movie, but enjoyed the book more. However I cried more during the movie.

The Drawing Breakthrough Book (3rd edition) is an excellent guide for both new and seasoned illustrators. The spiral bound format allows for easy access without any struggles in propping the book up while participating in the exercises. The book includes three parts, a conclusion and a list of recommended reading. In Part One you will learn the magic of seeing lines and shapes, how to build a drawing from the line up, and ways to draw challenging subjects using just lines. In Part Two, author John Hastings will direct you on how to use your sense of balance as you create points of reference. In this section of the book you will discover how to master circular, straight, elliptical lines and much more. In the final segment in The Drawing Breakthrough Book (3rd edition) you will discover how to draw beyond the building-block lines and learn to see an eye for artistic composition. Mr. Hastings includes still-life drawing exercises allowing you an opportunity to apply all new skills learned. Each and every illustration and artwork provides clarity to the easy to follow instructions. Every paragraph is precisely placed in a simple to read format. The Drawing Breakthrough Book (3rd edition) is an interesting and enjoyable read. A very helpful guide for any person wanting to learn a few tricks of the trade. Really enjoyed this book despite one of my favorite characters changing and pretty much leaving. Cant explain cos SPOILERS lol. Interesting situation with one of Gods, keeps you guessing at his motives. Also interesting to read about the Elai, I liked Imi as a character.

This is a really good autobiograpy of someone who overcomes the addiction of drugs and alcohol. It's the story of him in a rehab center.

They're called bedtime stories, but I have weird dreams when I read his stuff before I go to sleep. This is his adult stuff, so think James and the Giant Peach but for grown-ups. Tarantino MUST have read him, because I swear the scene from Four Rooms where Tim Roth has to cut the dude's finger off is taken right from one of Dahl's short stories.

The author was clearly offering his interpretation of Budapest in 1900 which still ended up being worth reading. However, I hated the way he would write one or two sentences about something expecting the reader to either know what he was talking about or take his word for it. It is perhaps a useful book to start off with though. Lukacs brings up many writers, artists, musicians, intellectuals and so on who one could then in turn find translated work by. My main complaint is that he should have narrowed his focus to keep within the page count or have extended the book to avoid glossing over why this or that individual was the perfect example of the Hungarian mentality in 1900.
