Even if this were terribly written, it would still be a fascinating and important document. The fact that she happened to be a rather talented budding writer just makes it more compelling and even more depressing.

This in my view is the worst children's book every written. I won't go into detail because you can read all that in other people's posts, but this book really does trouble me in so many ways. To begin with, after reading this book, it's pretty easy to see why society is so screwed up right now. The only moral to this book is take everything and return nothing. I can remember preschooler teachers I worked with praising this book and I just don't understand the attraction. I just don't get this book. If you want my advice, never let your child read this book!

I am going to set this aside for a while. LOVED Pillars of the Earth, but this seems to be far less worthy. It appears to me that Follet has just reinvented the same characters, plot, and conflicts. I might pick it up later, but right now I am feeling let down.

Traci took on a difficult subject with Lockdown. The story itself was okay, but to me this book was all about the romance. There's just something in the way Traci wrote the interactions between Riley and Tristan that made me feel the chemistry without anything inappropriate. I purchased this book as well as Royal Target and I'm glad I did!

A great combination of 19th century social comedy and nerdbomber fantasy and magic. The extensive footnotes are a great touch and they are often more interesting than the main narrative. Okay okay, so maybe I liked the fantasy part a little but there's still no way I'm playing d&d with you. Get that 12 sided die OUT of my FACE! Good book.

jodi picoult again does an amazing job researching the world around her characters. this book was impossible to put down and rips at your heart.

Very different in style from McCullough's book, Morgan's Run, which I read just before this, this was a real 'epic love story', as they would say on tv! I almost found there was too much there, it couldn't all be given the time it deserved, and some of the characters would have been deserving of a whole book themselves, instead they were just 'icing'. Fee, Frank, Patsy and all the 'Unks' ... we got to see glimpses of their lives, but they almost seemed to be there just to make things even more emotional. I am not a huge fan of anguished and unrequited love ... I want to yell "Just tell the truth!". Everyone tiptoes around with half truths, imagined truths - life would be a lot more fulfilling and a lot happier if everyone just expressed their feeling truthfully at the start! But I guess there would be no story then! Anyway, I still enjoyed this book greatly - definately a 'great epic love story', spanning the generations and the globe. Recommended.
