It was an okay book, as it delved away from the storyline of the previous two books. The first part of it was a little boring from her detail of description, but the further along i got, the harder it was to put it down. I was a little surprised at the ending, as most of the book I called before it happened. Overall a 4 of 5. Could have been better, but could have been worse.

I really wanted to like this story, especially after having read Lauren Oliver’s very personal open letter to the reader at the start, but I didn’t just like it, I absolutely love it. What a sweet tale full of coincidences, love, hope, adventure, mischief and magic. Once I picked it up, Oliver had me and I just couldn’t put it down. The young characters are terribly charming, each fleshed out with their own touching back-story and the villains are just that, clear-cut villains; with no redeeming qualities or character traits to invoke sympathy or dissuade the reader from their obvious evil black hearts. As this enchanting adventure takes a ton of tiny twist and turns weaving and entwining the lives of several strangers through the magic of fate and coincidence and, well, a touch of actual magic. With just a hint of spooky, but not truly scary, LIESL & PO is one of those classic fairytale-like stories (think Brothers Grimm) that is sure to appeal and captivate audiences of all ages for many years to come. Although I was fortunate enough to receive a paperback ARC of LIESL & PO from goodreads first-reads, that in no way had any influence on my review/opinion of this book. But I would like to take this opportunity to thank Goodreads.com, Harper Collins Children’s Books and author Lauren Oliver for the advance look at this delightful read.

I loved the premise of this one. The world is somewhat ending the power is out and has been for sometime, there is looting and people are against each other at every turn, humanity is not winning it seems. Fear not, our main characters are tucked away in their family home in the forest surrounded by California redwoods and beautiful scenery, sisters Nell and Eva are surviving. It is clear it is not an easy life and this book covers pretty much every concern you would have about two young girls living in the forest by themselves. The journey is a tough one but after everything that has happened they have each other. These young girls who were somewhat sheltered throughout childhood seem to have the odds stacked against them and even when they are winning, life just does not seem to be that awesome. I really enjoyed the idea and the setting for this story, but I will admit I had a hard time connecting with the girls, they were a bit immature and naive and I felt like I spent a lot of my time shaking my head at how decisions were made. Cool survival book without traveling, most of the dystopian books have a road trip to new world full of hope, this was a pretty stationary story which was different.

Bu mükemmel bir fotoğraf kitabı. Ama dikkatimi okurken merak etmeye başladığı zamanlar buldum. Bunu bitirmek benim için olması gerekenden çok daha uzun sürdü.
