This is an interesting story that's absurdly funny at times. However, the translation can be a little painful. If you have no patience for bits of awkward grammar I'd skip this one, although it suits the paranoid junkie protagonist well.

This book was hilarious. The first image of Jesus sets up the entire theme of the book: humanity and holiness, forcibly intertwined by the sinful yet lovable Biff. Levi called Biff is the best friend of Joshua (the 'accurate' name of Jesus) questions everything Joshua does as only a true friend could: from celibacy to eating bacon, the humor which Biff interjects keeps a epically heavy story light (most of the time). Also fascinating is how this books serves as a survey of Eastern and Western religions/philosophies. Not only do we hear about the bizzarities of everything from Judaism to Hinduism (passing through Confucianism and Buddhism on the way) but we also are given some very nice parables and images which stick in the memory to define those religions/philosophies. All in all a fun book, pretty light and pretty fast and educational too!

WOW! Loved this story.. read it in an afternoon. Loved "Cat" may sound funny but she is funny.. I laughed out loud the way she described Merv the Perv... lol down to his pink sausage fingers.. lol And Tegan.. what girl would not take a second look at the tall, dark, quiet type.. Can't wait for the next one.. Second book by M. Leighton that I have read this week.. Says the 2nd book will be here later this year.. I'll be ok this is a book a can read again...:)

Saum compiles letters and diaries of ordinary folk from early-to-mid 1800s in the United States. Fascinating reading for those interested in the changing soul of a nation. I wonder sometimes what these writers would think of us today.

This is the latest mystery in Hall's "Puzzle Lady" series, which is more of a "hard-boiled" mystery series. It is as amusing as ever, and comes to a satisfying, surprising conclusion. The only thing that bothered me about it is that the "Puzzle Lady"'s niece has an abusive ex-husband, against whom she has a restraining order, but she doesn't bar him from the house, and she has a lot of contact with him. In real life, she wouldn't let him anywhere near her, especially since he was physically abusive.
