I enjoyed this more than I expected to - and since I enjoy fantasy and magic, I don't know why I was so reluctant, altho I think it had something to do with expecting to be disappointed after all the hype. But it was fun, it was realistic about behaviors of pre-teens, and solving problems needed cooperation and teamwork by the students, which made Harry part of a team in more than name, and I think was one of the main draws for me. Now that I've begun, I will continue the series, and look forward to the year-by-year growth of all the students.

this book of essays is definitely one of my top five favorite books. especially the essay "my misspent youth" and "carpet is mungers." you can skip her novel, but sometimes her column in the LA Times is decent, too.

I downloaded this to my new Acer tablet I bought to take on my tour. Yes, i have a copy, but didn't want to lug the extra weight around :-) Well it seems I don't really like to read on my tablet - a book in hand is my preferred method of reading, so this took me quite some time to finish since I only read it when I was traveling. The short stories are all centered around a bar owned and operated by Gilgamesh are interesting and diverse. And I must admit I wrote one of the stories so the rating and review are biased big time!

I read this book after winning it from Goodreads, and I am so glad that I did! After reading the first in the series, "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies", I was not too excited to read it because the first book was mostly the same story with zombie fighting thrown in. This book, however, was very enjoyable because it was all new! Of course the characters were familiar but this story was of more interest to me because it was creative, humorous, and such a quick read! I couldn't wait to find out the fate of poor Mr. Darcy and learn more about all the characters I had become familiar with previously. It also introduced, very well, new characters that were likeable, even if they were not supposed to be. If you are interested in the Quirk Classics and are familiar with the "Pride and Prejudice" characters this is a book that you can really enjoy! Thank you Goodreads!
