Completely turgid and overwritten. Explores the mundane precept that people only appear happy on the surface and that everybody has problems.

I read this when I was in 7th grade for a class. I have sort of a bad taste in my mouth about the book, but I assume that it's because the teacher I had for the class sucked and as a result, I didn't get anything out of reading it.

I don't know how this got a Nobel prize..... the plot was minimal and the ending was bad.

These books are best read aloud to a rapt audience at bedtime (I had the good fortune to have Tim Curry read this one aloud to me (via the audiobook) while I intermittently followed along in print). It's a kid's book, sure, but this way you'll have the perfect excuse to enjoy it yourself.

Not quite as good as Kite Runner but worth the read.

Same as Da Vinci Code. I liked it, a little too dramatic, and I wasn't ever sure if anything was actually true.

I won this book from a fellow Tate author who I am friends with on Facebook. I usually prefer my religious reading to be non-fiction. However, this is a heart-warming tale of faith, forgiveness, love and the power of prayer. It answers the age old question: "Why do bad things happen to good people?" It shows that we can endure tragedy and change our lives for good when we turn to the Savior. I'm giving it 4 stars because I need points in Heaven.

This is the second of Firoozeh Dumas' books that give us little vignettes about her life both in Iran and the United States. This one focuses more on her adult life than the previous one. Dumas has a natural, effortless sense of humor that always makes her books go very quickly.
