Featuring "Alphabet Hicks" this is a partially successful mystery revolving around the new potential of recorded sounds to complicate motives and murder. Unfortunately much of the drama revolves around Hicks realising something which should be plainly obvious to a group of people working in the field of sound technology. There's a romantic plotline which was teeth-gritting to me (male in ardent pursuit and female having transparent NononononoI'mnotinterestedatall "protests too much" fits is not a dynamic which amuses me).

Li que o RGC se inspira muito no ALA, por isso vou com expectativas baixas para os livros deste último.

Great book, lost a star only because the "mystery" part of it wasn't that satisfying since the ones responsible weren't a part of the story itself until the very. The investigators were very astute and portrayed well as such. Excellent source of background scenery.

This book had a lot to tie up from the previous nine books. All in all he did an admirable job. You get a complete understanding of where he was trying to go. Sure, some plot tangents weren't completely explained. Sure, some important characters made only brief appearances. But I am very pleased with the novel and the series as a whole. I am looking forward to Casslemonts future novels to finish out the remaining plot threads from the series.

These women are heroes and their story in finally being told.

One of the most exciting books that I've had the pleasure of reading in a long time. It is a story of redemption and revenge that will keep you turning the page. In Reginald Hill , I have discovered a new author that I will definitely follow up with some of his previous books. Wolfe Hadda grew up poor but he conquered the world when his whole world came tumbling down. Accused of being a crook as well as a pedophile , he is severely injured by a bus when he attempts to flee from the police. Badly disfigured , he survives and his sent away to prison. For seven years he communicates with no one, until the bright new prison psychiatrist Alva Ozigbo starts to make a breakthrough with him. He is paroled and returns to his former residence. Now it is his time to try to figure out how all this has happened and to exact revenge on all those who conspired to seek his destruction. Now I only have to remember who recommended this book !!
