I have never been a fan of James Bond, although my son watched every one of his movies over and over again. I started this book while in Myrtle Beach but it was slow going from the start. It was due back to the library when I got back and I couldn't renew it due to it being a new book. So, after 45 pages, it goes unread. I will probably never go back to it. I wanted to read it though cause it is Deaver!! Perhaps some day. For now, I will feel like a traitor.

This book had some sort of otherworldly feel throughout, constantly keeping the reader wondering what is truly going on. Nicholson takes you for a ride, and once you've gotten off, you can still feel the adrenaline coursing through your veins and are left wondering exactly what happened and where. I don't like to give spoilers, so I'll leave it at that.

Noah Feldman contributes some great perspectives about Church-State issues, including an important argument for judicial conservatism and retaining a careful financial separation of church and state that I whole-heartedly agree with. While in the end his legal suggestions are obviously not the entire solution to this problem, and he remains too liberal in some of his views, the book is certainly worth reading if only to get you thinking.

Margaret Atwood is a highly acclaimed Canadian writer, but I this is the only novel of hers that I have been able to finish. I find her style confusing and wrat with too many minute details. The Robber Bride is both of the above, but once I got past the first third, felt more comfortable getting into the storyline.

i am in love with jonathan safran foer. i think he must be one heck of a cool-ass dude. he gives his books these incredible narrators with amazing voices that make you crack up and cry. the way he weaves this story in and out through different time periods is really cool, and it's set up as though he, jonathan, really had correspondence with the narrator. also, the fact that there is a dog named Sammy Davis Jr. Jr. in the book is pretty neat. though i loved this book tremendously, i liked 'extremely loud and incredibly close' even more.
