Everything about Beautiful Chaos is worth reading. If haven’t read the other two books, I strongly suggest that you do so. Beautiful Chaos was truly gut-wrenching and heart-pounding. This book will grab you from the very first page and not let you go until you reached the very last letter on the very last page. There’s so much put into the book and when you read it so much more comes out. It’s all unexpectedly wonderful. When you think one thing is going to happen BOOM, things change and an utterly different thing happens and makes the book more enjoyable. There is so much about this book that your will enjoy. I know I didn’t want to stop reading. [Like would you stop reading if you found out about The Wheel of Fate, or the Lilum, or Abraham and Sarafine with the book of moon and their dark casting? Or how Ridely loses her powers but then is able to cast- surprise! Ridely goes dark again. And let’s not forget about the two Ethans- well actually it’s Ethan and his half a soul- and what about Lena and letting her mother die? What about Ethan at the end of the book-like the last three chapters, when he found out that he was the sacrifice- I was fighting back tears the when Lena and Ethan said good-bye, when he said good-bye to Link, Marian, and Liv; when he said good-bye to Amma-that one had to be the hardest, aside from Lena.] All I’m think about now is what’s going to happened to Ethan? He CAN NOT DIE. He just CAN’T. I know that this book kept me on the edge of my sit with every chapter and the cliff hangers are encouraging you to keep reading even when your eyes can’t stay open any longer! In the end….just Read the book!

This book kept you on your toes. When I first read it, I fell in love with Rogerson. I was so hooked on the bad boy type I didn't care. But near the end, when it turned from bad to worse, I had to let him go in my mind. A part of me will still always like Rogerson but I'm torn between him and Caitlin.

An okay novel, but not one I can put into my Middle school library. Sexy nature of the high school aged students and the occasional swearing make it a better fantasy novel for high school. Still a good story line that creates a town where changelings are a run of the mill, but never spoken about reality. The main character is a changeling who managed to survive past his young childhood and now would like to live on to adulthood, but he gets mixed up with the Morrigan and the Lady, two age old fixtures of scary bedtime stories who threaten his chances for survival. All in all though, I couldn't get attached to the character emotionally. It feels like the author simply wrote what she thought the boy might be thinking, but didn't really give him any emotional engagement with himself or other characters. It made it difficult to really worry for his existence.

It’s been great going to concerts and being immersed in the local music scene, but it hasn’t been so great learning the dirty little secrets Maria’s mom tried so hard to keep hidden. Maria will have to figure out what exactly it is she’s looking for in New York City—and whether she can find it—before it’s too late to turn back. Supergirl Mixtapes is a wonderful character-driven coming of age novel. Maria is a vivid protagonist who is motivated by her love of music. Music isn’t necessarily what completely defines her, but it plays a huge role in her everyday life and is sometimes just what she needs to get through the day. Brothers does a fantastic job developing Maria’s character and the backdrop for her city adventures. It took me a little while to realize that Supergirl Mixtapes was set in the 90s, but once I did, it was really easy to get into the rhythm, so to speak, of the story. I was actually surprised that I didn’t feel let down by the ending of the story, because the plot comes in around in a full circle. I’m usually irritated when its seems like nothing really happened. But this just further goes to show how invested I became in Maria’s character, because that’s where all the real growth happened. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed or appreciated reading about an episode in a character’s life as much as I did in Supergirl Mixtapes, and I thank Brothers for that. Supergirl Mixtapes will be enjoyed by fans of I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone by Stephanie Kuehnert, Harmonic Feedback by Tara Kelly, and Shrinking Violet by Danielle Joseph. reposted from http://thebookmuncher.blogspot.com

Not only does this book describe tons of different printmaking processes with easy to follow color pictures and written instructions, but it also includes many examples of prints from contemporary printmakers along with short artist's statements from each. I like it a lot better as a reference than The Complete Printmaker.

Found this in the sitting room of the sheep shearer's station (Braemer) at the foot of Mt Cook; the two children's librarians in the group (you know who you are) remembered it well, though I think the others in the group were a bit puzzled, especially as I read bits out loud with hoots of laughter.
