The English continues to be of my preferred style, and the story was interesting while it lasted, however, I think a span of too long time was being squeezed into one book, making it a little less enjoyable. Three years of Anne's life was squeezed in here, so nothing really got explored much. Anne would be jumping from Redmond and back to Green Gables, and so forth... Anne's feelings didn't have a chance to be elaborated...what really made her say no to Gilbert? What sealed her decision about Roy? What did she expect with the little necklace from Gilbert? And this "book of revelation", yes, she knew she loved Gilbert, but what made her have this decision? Perhaps all the different marriages she encountered taught her enough, but, that's just what I imagine and not really happened (I wouldn't know). I still genuinely liked the book, I would have been happier with a little more explanation on certain things...

Very disappointing novel from the author of Sarah's Key. The protaganist was truly annoying and I wasn't able to generate any feelings for him other than disgust. I also felt the writing was choppy with a lot of extraneous details that didn't relate to the story.

I will not finish this book...too long. The August selection for my book club proved to be mildly interesting during the first part; however, there were far too many references to cultural events and people of the Montreal 80's that it would be dificult for someone younger or from elsewhere to understand or appreciate. I have abandoned this book at the halfway point in the Galapagos. I simply don't care anymore about Alex. It's been too hot a summer for such a heavy read and it dosen't go well with the beer and the beach. It is not likely that I will pick it up again. Perhaps if you are a 30-something struggling with Life's decisions, you might like to spend a few months plowing through this book.

One of my favorites in the "little house" series, for obvious reasons. There is an actual romance, instead of them just making dolls out of corn husks and losing their crops because of fire, rain, pestilence or plague. This was something I reread over and over again in my middle grade years.

Great Book!!!! I love being able to see the other side of Jacob's life story.It's a story I heard before but told from Dinah's point of view. The women in this book are very close knit almost like they are living in a completely different world than the men.

unbelievable true story. Written by an author who interviewed a chinese woman in 1994. This woman showed up out of nowhere and tells the story of how she was trapped in Tibet for over 20 years searching for her missing husband. You don't get closure at the end but it is still a satisfying quick read.
