Though starting as a humours critique of European medieval society, the book slowly develops into a depressing warning. Though critiquing medieval Europe, Twain nevertheless manages to hold a mirror to his own 19th century American society. A dire warning of the abuses of power, and of an zealous society when it comes to technology. I laughed at the beginning, and felt nothing but pitty at the end, pitty for Hank, for Twain and even for our own contemproy world.

Musil's unfinished novel is beautifully and technically crafted. It's almost purely an abstract and subjective novel, with dense and complicated prose.

This is the first in the Cedar Cover series, which I have recently discovered after reading other Debbie Macomber books. It is an enjoyable story and light reading. I finished it in one day. I'll definitely be reading more in the Cedar Cove series.

Another really good story from Jet Mykles. And like the cover, here we have an "yaoi" style story. Aaron is a shy man, an IT geek with social problems: among people he feels unconfortable, but people don't let him quite... cause he is beautiful! He has wonderful red hair and bright green eyes. So when he goes to Yoshiki's office, the VP of the firm, for an IT problem, the man sees him and wants him and he don't stop in front of nothing to have what he wants. Yoshiki, Ki, his a quarter japanese and three quarter american. He loves women and men: the heat is the only thing that count. And he feels heat between him and Aaron. But Aaron is very shy: he is not only virgin to gay love, he his virgin at all... so Ki must convince him that it will be good and then, that it will be last. In this romance we have all the element of the yaoi romance: beauty and young characters, a stronger one with a shy one, also the trick with the hair, during a steamy sex session... It is a fast and satisfyng reading: one only weak point... I hate Rachel!!! But you have to read it to know why! http://elisa-rolle.livejournal.com/35...

Absolutely awesome. The geekiest thing I've ever read in my life, and it was all the more awesome for it. I think I've found my new Snow Crash...

Pretty pictures, but a little to gourmet to be a really useful book.

"Truth in Comedy" believes in groupmind in improvisation, whereas Mick Napier's "Improvise" urges improvisers to believe in themselves. Prior to reading the book, I've heard people describe his methods as "fuck your partner" improvising. I don't think Mick Napier is suggesting a performer should bulldoze a scene, but rather initiate strongly and follow through with that initiation or character. He offers very sound advice as to what makes a scene successful, and when put into practice it has helped to strengthen scenes. I specifically chuckled at the chapter regarding women in improv. I "think" he believes women are funny. Every improviser must read this book.

I read this book right after reading The Girl Who Was Too Fond of Matches, and truthfully I didn't enjoy it as much. It is a very brief book, and although it has charm to it I found it was lacking, especially when I compare it to his other works. Gaetan Soucy is a man of great potential and talent, and an has such an interesting way of writing.
