If I could have, I would have given this three and a half stars. I like the idea of thinking about the people who have previously owned a work of art (and the "life" of the work itself) and I like all of the historical detail (surprise, surprise). Some of the stories were kind of blah, but overall, the work was engaging.

Totally loved this book and I'm really happy that I reread it. It's so true to life it's scarey. Yes, it's very depressing but meaningful (in a good way). Montag's wife is such a selfish vain woman (not to mention her friends) and her Facebook trance is actually turning me off of it. I chose this for my book club and we'll see what happens.

What a piss poor film this one made. I had to check it out when I knew the film was coming, and upon reading it I realized how wide the gap was between the fluff that was the film, and the rather solid graphic novel this was. Great style in both art and plot, that really evoked for me a time of Great Britains imperialism, where England really was the center of the world. The plot is ambitious, and what happens towards the end of this volume really took me both by surprise, and delighted me at the same time. A lot of subtle humor too that didn't make it to the film. Great stuff!

This is a story about teens who think they take life serious and know what they need to do in order to succeed in life, but when it comes to holding themselves back from immediate pleasure; they find themselves trapped in a predicament no one wanted. July's pregnancy changes everything, Bo Jo has to drop out of high school, dreams of college scholarships are out, their parents find this as another reason why they can't make their own decisions and treat them as kids even more. But together they make it work, they mature and grow together and find that perhaps being thrown with this predicament, they can still make each other happy and live happily. But is it enough to make them happy, or do they owe more to the parents that gave them life? I loved this book because it dealt with the issue of sex before marriage with all the consequences, but also with the blessings. They will regret what they did forever but they made it work and found love they didn't think was there. There are too many negative takes on all the bad consequences of having sex before marriage, but this novel published in the 60's proves that you make a blessing out of your mistakes. Life is no crystal stair, but we can keep going strong and climb higher.

This book was a different experience. The writer was from the early 20th century and it commentates the historical view during that era. People interested in America's past should read this book.
I liked the premise of this book and the plethora of meaningful questions it leaves you with after you finish reading it. Are they really so special? Was Hailsham just or had they committed injustice with the children living there? However, I found this book extremely difficult to read. Many of the prolonged descriptions of events were redundant and added neither to the premise nor the premise of the book.
