we are currently still using this book, and it has been an invaluable tools for filling in the gaps when additional physical/occupational therapy is needed. the book is basically broken down into 2 parts, pre-walking skills, and post walking skills; and then broken down even further. each chapter describes and suggests obtainable goals for your little ones to reach their gross motor goals. i love this book, and it helps me to feel that i have an active role in my child's learning experiences and provides me with great ideas and activities that are fun and educational/therapy.

Good for a light read. While trying to break stereotypes the book actually made more. Written in the two person lead style and done well, not cheesey at all. Not amazing but very sweet.

not chuck's best effort, but definitely his best job of tidying up all of the loose ends. I do love's me some Chuck, and if you want some good arbitrarily bizarre reads that lack pretension and will keep you guessing, he's your man!

Do you really need to understand a story to recommend it? Secrets are woven into tale and I'm not so sure I figured out any of the mystery. It is a little hard to follow but follow it you must. This would be such a great book for a discussion. I loved the Eastern European history and folklore that put me right into the Balkans. So different from anything I have been reading. I experienced the oppressive feel of living in a war zone or the area of serious conflicts. I was impressed with the insight of this young author. This quote is just an example of her depth. "When your fight has purpose--to free you from something, to interfere on behalf of the innocent--it has the hope of finality. When the fight is about unraveling-- when it is about your name, the places to which your blood is anchored, the attachment of your name to some landmark or event--there is nothing but that, and the long, slow progression of people who feed on it and are fed it, meticulously, by the ones who come before them. Then the fight is endless, and comes in waves and waves, but always retains its capacity to surprise those who hope against it."

This book consists of a collection of somewhat-related short stories about Blackwell, Massachusetts from its founding in the 1700's through the 1980's. I almost quit reading the book after the first few chapters, but, as I read further through the book, the character development and the linkage between the stories/chapters made the book hard to put down.

A beautiful and tragic story about the life of a complicated woman as told by her anonymous granddaughter. It is a non-traditional love story (you'll see what I mean when you read it!). I once took a class on Sardinian woman authors and there was a common thread of despair and roughness and passion that felt unique to the woman of this island. This novel follows in the same tradition. It is short but complex and I would strongly recommend it.

I absolutely love this book! I came across it on a YA shelf in a bookstore, and something about it caught my attention. I am ever so grateful that it did. What an amazing and unique blend of music, history and the supernatural! And with all of this depth and breadth, Louise Marley combines science fiction components with an absolutely seamless weave. Her characters are very real, and bring so many historic aspects to our awareness, and touches something deep in the heart, while sparking something in the imagination at the same time. I have since read many of her books, all of them impress with their unique background and blends- but I think this one is my favourite:)
