Dan Brown is a great thriller writer. Don't pick up this book if you have things you need to get done.

This book explores a method of healthy dating that encourages maturity and growth. The book is written from a Christian perspective, but certainly has merit for those of differing beliefs.

Eighteen-year-old Miranda Thurston is the daughter of U.S. Cavalry Major Charles Thurston. Miranda's mother died in childbirth, and as her father's only reminder of his beloved wife, she has been overprotected her whole life. Although she has grown up on the frontier, she doesn't believe the rumors about Cheyenne raiding parties. She sneaks away from Fort Walters to visit a friend's ranch and finds herself captured by Shadow Walker, a Cheyenne warrior. Shadow Walker was orphaned at a young age in a raid by white soldiers. Now the soldiers have captured his uncle, and Shadow Walker wants revenge. He is dismayed to find that his captive is just a young girl, who will be of little use to him. When Miranda rebels at every turn, Shadow Walker takes her on a journey into the wilderness to teach her a lesson. But on that journey, captor and captive discover feelings for each other that they never would have expected. This wasn't an awful book, but it was probably the weakest in the Avon True Romance series. The ending was too abrupt -- it should have been longer and more developed. The story did keep my interest the whole way through, but ultimately I found the love story to be rather unbelievable. If you want to read the whole Avon True Romance series, this book is an okay way to spend a couple of hours, but if you are just looking for something to read, there are better books out there.

oh boy, writing about what i read. it feels like school. uhhh... it was good. my first real science fiction book. i haven't read lately besides graphic novels, so the fact that i finished this book was a sign that i liked it. cause without pictures, books with hundreds of pages becomes a challenge. so if you haven't read dune yet. do it! god my reviews are gonna suck

** spoiler alert ** Story of a child star who grows up to a less successful film career. Everyone has her stuck in her childhood role, even though that's not who she is. Trying to win the love of a controlling father, she wants to do everything right, even when her life is falling apart around her. Everything comes to a head when she accidentally marries the man who made her childhood career a nightmare, an actor she once idolized. Instead of getting a quick divorce, when they realize they'd been drugged and done a stupid thing, they decide to live together, each with their own agenda. The woman wants to save face. The man wants to rebuild his image so he can move on in his career, instead of getting type casted as the bad boy or loser boyfriend. Together they figure out who they are and come to realize their strengths and weaknesses, and of course, love.

A novel about middle-class America, the dark side of suburbia. Quite the satire!

I'm giving Whitehead another chance. I loved The Intuitionist, John Henry Days and The Colossus of New York, but I was so disappointed by Apex Hides the Hurt that I was weary of jumping into Sag Harbor. I'm consistantly impressed with Whitehead's ability to seemily have nothing happen, but have it mean the world. I think he captures modern American life well that way. We don't all go on hero journeys.

I have to confess disappointment at this book. I was expecting to be blown away, but instead I had a hard time relating the (in my mind) three sections of the book - his life in India/exploring religions, life on the metaphorical boat, explanations. Am I dense in not seeing the connections between the metaphorical boat ride and the religious exploration of the first part of the book?
