I think this book could be accused of being the most real book I have ever read. It gripped and fascinated me from start to finish. I didn't want to put it down. Normally I read books with a distinct happily ever after. This didn't give me that in the typical sense. It was a sad, heart breaking story. A young girl goes through more heartache than anyone should be expect to survive. I truly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone with the warning to Have tissues handy!

Anything G.K. writes is of course going to be worth reading. This book seemed stale to one of my long-time-liberal friends, as if it was saying things that were common sense to many people. I am still developing my political opinions, however, and found his insights helpful. I can agree with the author on many important points of liberalism--taking care of the poor, having higher taxes to provide quality social services, protecting the powerless from the powerful--but he seemed to focus mostly on the ideological standpoints of "democratism" and not so much on how it works in practice. Once people are elected to Washington from whatever party there is not much difference. They are equal fodder for the lobbyists and pet projects. Aside from the politics, there are several nice stories that any fan of G.K. would enjoy reading. I don't think the book is going to change many people's opinions much from wherever they were at the beginning.

loved this book...a very interesting treatise on the effect the socially unchecked rise in internet porn is having on people (mostly men) and their relationships. talks about porn addiction in chemical/biological terms as well as purely culturally, which i found interesting.

This book was amazing. So well written and researched. I haven't read a book this good since the Time Travelers Wife. It's one of those books where when you're reading it and after you finish, you don't ever want to turn the tv on because you want to spend all of your time reading wonderful books that enlighten and inspire you. I don't like the circus (and part of why I hate them, along with zoos, is solidified in this book) but I loved this book. Clown haters don't have to worry. None are mentioned!
