Because she was one of the 20th century's most important female philosophers, I decided to give Murdoch's novel a shot. Edward falls into a pit of guilt after lacing his friend's sandwhich with drugs; his friend falls out of a window to his death. The story is loony and peculiar rather than terribly gripping. Probably would have appreciated more had I any background in moral philosophy worth speaking of.

This edition's introduction is by Leo Bersani, whose work on Freud has also been very important to me. Here's a gem: "We can, at best..., adapt to that which makes us incapable of adaptation. To go any further ... would be to cure ourselves of being human."

This a great story about a real life historical person. The story the life a ruler of Rome. While reading the book, I saw what the situations were like in my head. Like looking at one those Roman war type movies. The war scenes will be great on the big screen. I have got to read the next one!! Bring it on!

The second book yet again grabbed me by the arm and dragged me into the complex world of the Fae, where alliances are tested and things aren't always as they seem. Julie Kagawa has done yet another amazing job with research and writing that makes you /feel/. A great book to be sure!

I think that this was a really good book . The details were so expressive and imaginative. I t is fun to read because you always want to know what the big secret is in the book,or what's going to happen to the characters are going to do next. The author writes it so expressively that you can see their figures so clear as if they're standing right next to you. I really like how the book gets it so your imagination starts to start and you think of what you would do if you wrote a book.

I thought it was a beautiful, powerful story yet very painful. I can't believe the author was able to tell such an incredible story in just 370 pages. On the one hand, I am so glad I read it. I am sad that I don't know very much about Afghanistan or it's people. This book shed so much light on that region for me. But on the other hand, it was a gut-wrenching, heartbreaking story. And yet it's the painful reality for many people. But sometimes stories have to be told before healing can take place. So for that reason, I am so glad it was written. I hope that healing eventually takes place in Afghanistan.
