Any issues I had with this book were plot based. Eggers is definitely a talented writer, and I like his style. He keeps some things masked from you throughout the book, but even though he basically reveals them eventually, you're still left to put pieces together. It adds a level of intrigue and curiosity to the story. He basically calls out all of the issues that I had with the plot within the book, but for whatever reason, the explanations just weren't satisfactory, and I found myself questioning the characters' motivations, as well as saying to myself "what the hell are they thinking? are they really that stupid?". that aside, it's a very effective story of escapism, and perfect for when you're trying to deal with things that you're not entirely sure how to deal with.

Just who is the wizened youth? Literature is made, we are led to think,"to keep ourselves from falling into the rubbish dump." Comforting.
