It was a really really good book, esp as an audiobook. It was well read. She made you really a part of the story. The story is about one of the brave men who tried to kill Adolf Hitler on the 20 th July 1944. He was hanged. That is how the story begun and than the (youngest) doughter tells the story of him his wife his family. Using letters, diaries and historical facts. She never tried to bei objective, esp when she talks about his womenising. It is a warm, loving, hatefull, horror-stricken, happy and TRUE story. I got an inner view ito what happend to the families of one of those men. How they became what they were, and how normal those men were who became HEROS of the german nation. He was not one of the famous one like Graf von Stauffenberg but he was as brave as him. Anyone who wants to learn about the time in germany beween 1920-1944 should read this book or listen to this Audiobook. Normally I post my reviews in the language where the book was I read, but as I know many english readers will see my review I did this in english. If YOU have the chance to get this book.... take it.

don't get me started. this should be a great socioeconomic exploration but really it's just barbara e. massaging her own ego. "i may have been cleaning a toilet but LITTLE DID THEY KNOW WHO I AM, blah blah blah". she can't deflate her ego long enough to really let us experience what the working class do. holy rich woman's burden.

I wanted to like this book more than I did. I liked the way Atkinson played with the detective novel genre and experimented with points of view. But ultimately I found it to be a somewhat shallow, if well-written, novel.

overrated, but interesting- I question the historical accuracy, but what do I know?

One of the best of the Christopher Moore books.

a fascinating memoir about a murder obsessed guy. he uses these punchy staccato sentences and weird hybrid lingo that i love. it's not cliche like he's trying to exorices his demons, but more like he's trying to enliven his obsession in you. so far i've liked this far better than any of his fiction.

I can relate to THE BOYS IN THE BAND more than I can relate to any play, movie, or book about gay men. It's main character might be a self-hating drunk gay mess, but the play is OVERFLOWING with truths about gay men, gay life, and society. Also, the dialogue sparkles like one of Liberacci's candelabras.
I loved this book. Listened to it recorded while working and it is read by the author. Sometimes that is a singular treat. Touching in many ways and laugh out loud funny in others.

Bunu sevdim ve diziyi bitirmek için harika bir yol olduğunu düşündüm. Çok sayıda bükülme ve dönüş.
