Labeled as Yaoi, this fantasy manga is a little misleading (I wouldn't even rate it BL). The relationship or feelings between the brothers might appear incenstuous but to me it didn't feel like that kind of love-except for the cute illustrations included in the Afterword. As always, Tateno-sensei manages to mix in a little of everything; action, drama, love/hate relationship issues, gorgeous characters and illustrations and an entertaining/interesting story. I was a little disappointed at the lack of boys' love but I still managed to enjoy this manga; I guess the two brothers sort of grew on me, I liked their ending.

I skimmed this book. I personally LIKED school, so I never wanted to liberate myself from it. But I buy into many of the ideas she presents here, especially that we should live life NOW, not just spend all our time preparing for it so we can live it sometime in the future.

This book is harrowing and heartbreaking. It is the gothic romance I never got reading Wuthering Heights. It is tragic and dark and painful, and reading it you feel haunted by the story of someone who you know will be dead by the end of the book. Awesome. Hard to believe this book was written 50-odd years ago.

I usually avoid John Grisham novels like the plague, but this one caught my eye when the NYT Books section wrote about it a few years ago. If you imagine Friday Night Lights set in Italy with post-college guys, you have this book in a nutshell. And an added perk: the "Julie Taylor" character is much less insufferable! This was a quick, fun read.
