Joyful Mind Compiled by Susan Piver This is a great meditation guide that I borrowed from my roomate. It is an excellent introduction to different techniques and philosophies of meditation to help you find your own style. It comes with two CDs as well, one with guided meditation in each of the styles and the other with just meditative music. Very informative.

This is a great chronological perspective of the event and culture surrounding Burningman, written by a participant. It ties together much of the what happened in San Francisco and in the life of Larry Harvey & other organizers to create the event that continues to this day. An interesting read even for people that have not attended the event, but are intereted in San Francisco and the movements of this city.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was a great young adult read, but for an older YA audience. The language and some of the situations make it a book that isnt for everyone, but it was a thought provoking book.

It's my experience that all John Irving novels are essentially the same. That being said, this one is pretty good. It's the one to read.

This was a fantastic book. Well written, great characters, and enough plot twists and turns to keep the reader deeply engaged in the story. I can't wait for the next one in the series!

I liked The Steal, but it started off very slowly and didn't get genuinely interesting until about a third of the way into it. Yes, I understand that Shteir needed to add some historical context to lay the groundwork for the second half of the book, but, still, I had a hard time getting into it at first. I enjoyed the parts later on in the book when she discusses what it's like to work in "Loss Prevention" and her thoughtful analysis of why people shoplift (hint: more often then not, it's not because they "have to"). I also think she raises some interesting points about kleptomaniacs and whether they should be treated as criminals who need to be punished, or people with a mental illness who need to be treated. But, all in all, I have a hard time saying, "you have to read this book", because, honestly, I'm not sure that many of the people I know would actually enjoy it.

I have and am enjoying Miss Douglas's books very much. I know that she has written quite a lot of books but these are the first that I have read and I am enjoying them a lot. The Delilah Street books could easily get lost in the new influx of the "paranormal investigator", "vampire hunter" and other supernatural stories that are out there, but what is doing it for me is all the movie and television referances that Carole has used. And if you are a fan of old movies, like I am, you will enjoy these books a lot. One of my favorite lines in the book "Inside, Wrathbone's was as dark as the Devil's left nostril." Gee that must be dark indeed. :)
