Wonderful chapter reader for children! If your children like the Adventure in Odyssey series they will love this book of adventure and excitement. Children are quickly drawn into a lively tale of viking adventures. They meet Leif Erikson and are set out on a mission to fine a sunstone before he sets sail with the Imagination Station on board - will they make it? The story is well-written and easy to read. My oldest boy was so excited to receive it in the mail and could not wait to begin reading. The children are confronted with many challenges and opportunities to share about God when they meet Erik the Red. Erik is angry about the new god that challenges his current beliefs. However the story has a redemptive and happy ending. Faith and courage prevail as is always the case in Adventures in Odyssey. I love the fact that children are absorbing good morals and values without even realizing it - for once the parent doesn't have to be the only one stating these things. Children are invited to see what these things are in action. Excellent book. Thank you Tyndale for the review copy in exchange for an honest review.

Fun and enlightening. Makes you think about the lost art of using common sense.

A cute story about a dinosaur who makes cookies for everyone and a little boy trying to convince everyone that dinosaurs are extinct!

It was okay. I'm waiting for the last book to FINALLY finish the 10+ book question: Who killed Bonnie? This series really needs to draw to a close. Johansen's earlier works were much better. I loved Fire Storm, On the Run, Killer Dreams, Killer Game, Firestorm, etc. However, I don't think any of these are part of the Eve Duncan series, which is why I liked them. Time to retire Eve.

It's the American Dream at its best and most poignant, pursued through comic books. Of course, there's way more to it--love and revenge and humor and desperation and all of those things that appear in the Great American Novel (and I think this just might be it). It's wonderful. I can't say that enough.

Interesting biography of Catherine de Medici which sometimes gets bogged down with the ins and outs of the French religious wars. Full review: http://shelfandstuff.blogspot.com/200...

** spoiler alert ** I was worried that this would be a dark movie and was pleasantly surprised by it's brightness, though there were some dark moments (the city DID have it's black outs from time to time). I was entranced by the characters and was compelled through an underground civilization that is dying and whose citizens are in need of rescue and escape and whose ultimate triumph comes at the hands of two adolescents, Lina and Doon.

I first heard the story of Henrietta Lacks on NPR's RadioLab and immediately went to the library for the book. In the 1950s, this poor black sharecropper died of an incredibly aggressive cervical cancer at John's Hopkins. The cell samples taken from her tumor launched a medical revolution, and the fall out both in the medical field and in the lives of her family has been intense and spans decades. Although it does discuss some of the ensuing scientific breakthroughs, the book focuses more on unintended medical consequences and legal fall-out for researchers and medical professionals, and even more so the disservices done to her surviving family by a well intentioned but misunderstanding research community. It was a little short on science for my taste, but was worth the read if the intersections of medicine, African-American history, social justice, law and heartbreaking human interest pique your interest.
