The beginning of this book bored me so much I almost put it down for good, but I was intrigued by the back flap and pushed through the first 20 or so pages. From that point on I couldn't put it down. I cried and I laughed. It is a book that I would recommend to any christian. It was a lesson in love and forgiveness.

I'm not going to lie—I thought this series should have ended at City of Glass. It was a trilogy, right? We resolved our conflict and had our happy ending, and our favorite Shadow Hunters can go on with their lives. Thing is, though, as I was reading this one... they still have this job to do. Sure, they went through conflict. It was resolved. City of Fallen Angels is what happens after the happy ending. While most stories end with just that, this one goes beyond and says... "okay, what now?" Not all is happily ever after, it seems. Simon finally—somewhat accidentally—comes out to his mother (as a vampire, I mean), and Jace is riddled with horrifying dreams where he kills Clary, thus ignoring her all the time. And Simon's band has a new lead singer, and you know we don't just introduce new characters for the heck of it. Honestly, I didn't love the story as much as I did the trilogy. I suppose nothing beats your first love. But it's certainly action-packed and enjoyable. Jace is still moody, which Clary tries to [finally] kick out of him. Simon's dating two different girls, which causes some fun drama. But in the end, relationships are strained. They have to choose sides, have to figure out who's trustworthy. And even the ones that are supposed to be the most reliable are acting strange. And of course, we have a cliffhanger. Curses.

Maddeningly eccessive! But it works! Seemingly every piece of exposition is on display here, but it flows with the story. And there's no point in getting into Rand's philosophy in this small space. Should I even say that this book kicked my ass?

This was a long read, 881 pages! However, I loved it! I checked it out of the library, renewed it 3 times, and finally finished it last night and I owed the library $1.50 in overdue fines ... but it was soooo worth it. Its based upon the idea that there is another intelligent life form on this planet besides human beings and they've been here since this planet was first able to support life. They have linked memories, so their memory dates back as far as they've existed and is passed on to each new generation. They find us, humans, to be flawed and choose to eliminate us. They are single celled amoebas who live in the oceans and can congregate together to become any sea creature that they can imagine. Its a wild thrill ride of an adventure and you've got to read it to find out how we as a race manage to survive their onslaught.
