Very tongue in cheek and I adore Charley Davidson. She, so far I'd read book, is the not so annoying and TSTL ass kick heroine. Even she has ADD. I feel this one more to suspense with paranormal sprinkle of it, and less romantic. Since.. there's not so much of Reyes part :| Yes, definitely not romance for me. I need HEA, dammit! But I know why many GR friends love Reyes. If he look like Jason Behr, I will totally sold too.

This is one of the best science fiction books I have ever read. I love how much history about fads is included and how the storyline ties everything together so beautifuly. (even things that are seemingly unrealated) It has a wonderfull pace and kept me engrossed from the first page all the way to the last.

This is probably one of my favorite books ever. I read it around the time I saw "Big River," the musical based on it...and my reading was split up into 2 parts much like the play. I got to about the end of act one by the time I saw the show...read it voraciously, and loved it. I read the second half after seeing the show, and it took me much longer to get through it (perhaps because I already knew the ending?) and I found it a little dry. Still, if you want to read the novel that all other American lit has supposedly sprung from, that's your book.

I found this one waay too long!! The magic wasn't there, and it was a transition book more than anything to set up the last two books. I read it because I love Jamie Fraser and wanted to continue the story but eh, not such a good one. A Breath of Snow and Ashes is better, much more like her old self. Read this one just to get through to the next.
