This week, I had the pleasure of reading Ruth J Hartman's "Flossophy of Grace". In this book, Ruth has drawn from her experience as a dental hygienist to write a sweet, funny romantic tale about two lonely people who were destined to be together. Grace Hart is a thirty-something lonely dental hygienist. Well, not exactly. She has six furry babies that require her to keep a job so she can feed and shelter them. Even with the companionship of her cats, she feels a void that can only be filled by a handsome patient that walks into the office one day. Bruce Gardener--tall, dark, handsome, and goofy as they come--is new in town. He's lonely too. Seems like he's never found a woman that can match (or put up with) his zany character. When he meets Grace, though, he knows right away that she's the woman for him. Unfortunately for them, Grace's wicked boss Dr. Beeth (rhymes with teeth, don't ya know) throws a wrench in their relationship when he declares that Grace cannot be seen cavorting with a patient. Bruce is undeterred, however, and signs up to receive every kind of dental treatment that Grace can offer. Yes, he's that brave. Ms. Hart has written a light-heated, sweet romantic tale with characters so endearing, you'd like to meet them in real life. Grace and Bruce are both selfless and kind, and their conversations are hilarious. I found myself laughing out loud several times and was quite surprised I finished the 109 page-story so quickly. It's not that often that I find a piece of writing that flows so well from page to page. If I had to nitpick about anything, I'd say that Dr. Beeth's portrayal at times felt a little TOO evil. Then again, I once worked for a man who's name also rhymed with teeth, who had a predisposition for four letter words, so his portrayal might not be that exaggerated after all. The obstacles he throws in Grace's way did serve to make her a stronger character, and I kept rooting for her and Bruce to have the last laugh. Bottom line: If you're looking for a sweet romantic tale with lots of laughs that will tickle your heart with warm fuzzies, pick up Flossophy of Grace. It's a treat!

Wow..where do I begin?!! This book was amazing, unlike anything I have ever read..at times, it made me wanna cry (Tate especailly), laugh (Santagelo's mom with the "two little shits"), and of course believe in the power of love and friendship all over again.. I loved the way the author reveliled the mystery one clue at a time..it kepts me hooked the whole time.. I have to say, I've fallen in love with Jonah...he's perfectly imperfect and you can't help falling for a guy like that.. I loved how it was a story that took two tragic stories, one from the past and one in the present and while showing the pain, it also talked about the good times and the romances that took your breath away and left u wanted to hear more. *Second read* Wow, um how do I add to that last review. I think I enjoyed this reread more than the first time because I could make those little connections that linked the past with the present. The world on Jeelicoe Road was an amazing place to return to.

I really enjoyed this book, but in a different way then I expected. After listening to Sarah Vowell speak about her writing for "The Wordy Shipmates," I think I have a better understanding of why this is. Vowell spoke about her interest in the topic and desire to write about it, and I could see this interest on every page. Vowell's retelling of the story of the Massachusetts Bay Colony (genocidal warts and all) is compelling to me, showing all the complexities of the past while still remaining accessible, and yes, witty. Vowell expertly draws parallels between past and present, using her interest in the past to explore how the present culture of the United States might have come to be. This, I feel, is how I would want to write history. Sarah Vowell, of course, does a much better job of it!

Scarlett Thomas made me feel like Alice going down the rabbit hole. You get caught up in the desire to take just one more step. I love the way she creates a mind "dizzying" <----made up word-- spirals of what is reality. She provides some quick lessons in quantum physics that left me with a sense that I learned something.

A First-Rate Mystery with all the Ingredients When I heard the buzz about, Cupcakes, Lies, and Dead Guys my curiosity was piqued. Such a quirky title sounded like a lot of fun. And the author delivers a well-plotted mystery with an extra helping of humour infused throughout the pages. We follow, Annie Graceland. Whose idyllic life suddenly changed when her cheating husband, Dr. Fuller, was found dead. Annie a bakery proprietor and psychic became prime murder suspect as the cause of death was one of her cupcakes. We are introduced to a colourful array of characters and laughter as Annie sets in search of the real killer. Pamela DuMond is a new voice in writing today. If you are looking to be thoroughly entertained, I cannot recommend Cupcakes, Lies, and Dead Guy’s high enough---from the front page to the back, five stars easily. I am now looking forward to the next Annie Graceland mystery

Even though I expected this book to be slightly different it turned out to be equally lovely and exciting to read! I loved the worlds the author created and for the entire time I felt as if I was part of them, the magical and mysterious atmosphere of this book accompanied me during the whole journey of reading it. Moreover, I was surprised many times by the plot which, even though at many parts predictable, was able to surprise me by its turn of events that I wouldn't think of... It's a book that every young adult thirsty for world of magic and wonders will love!
