Sarcastic, sarcastic, crass, clever, and sarcastic. Often more "The Colbert Report" (not my fav) than "The Daily Show" (my fav), I was glad it was short but still found myself skipping. I must say they have some very witty writers but still used too much exageration for my taste. Don't listen with kids in the car, btw.

I finally had to mark this book as "read". I didn't read it cover-to-cover, so I'll probably never be done reading it completely. However, thanks to the authors meticulous research I am impressed by the account of who this man really was. Not just the loony pedophile I believed him to be, but also a hard-working, patriotic leader personality with incredible charisma. A talented conn-man who got himself into a situation a little bit over his head... and pulled himself out of it. Fascinating.

This was the third book in a trilogy. It wrapped up the series, mostly to my satisfaction. I enjoyed some of the characters in the book, interestingly, more so the lesser ones than the main ones. I also like the setting -- County Kerry in Ireland. It really invoked the natural beauty of the place, to my thinking. It was light and frothy and a good diversion.

Just finished copy-editing this for my friend Shannon. It is a dialogue between a theology professor (Shannon) and a preacher (her friend and co-author). It's intelligent, thoughtful, humble, funny. I loved it! Her writing on Karl Rahner and Letty Russell (neither of whom I knew anything about) was especially insightful.

Although I can appreciate Jhumpa Lahiri's writing, I'm just not really into the whole Indian author and Post-Colonialism movement. I have read several books by Indian authors and all the stories seem to be the same--family comes to America, gives up everything, misses family back home, tragedies happen (divorce, death, affairs, etc), but in the end they realize they can't really go home again because they left it to come to America and this is now their home. What I can say for Lahiri, though, is that she really knows how to end a book. This book came full circle, complete with a poignant ending. I loved "Interpreter of Maladies," but I did not love this one of hers. I was a little disappointed after how much I loved "Interpreter of Maladies."
