Isabella's got a little bit of freak in her thanks to a vamp named Raphael! This story is a short, sweet, and sexy read. It's a novella so it's pretty compact but the scenes are well balanced. Isabella and Raphael's characters are fleshed out well for such a short story. Oh yeah, there is a plot along with scorching erotica. In Tina Folsom's world, vampyrs can't swim, they sink to the bottom and drown because they are too heavy to float. So of course, there are a group of vampire slayers who push unsuspecting vamps into the canals of Venice. Hey, if it works why bother with stakes and the possibility of vein trama. The story starts with Raphael being pushed into a canal and sinking to his demise. Isabella, a widow who lost her human husband to an 'accidental' canal drowning, dives in to save him. She is a proper lady so of course she is not ready when Raphael takes over her life and her bed. He makes short work of her inhibitions and a troublesome family member. As readers, we get to watch him work -- Yow! This is not kiddie pool erotica, you gotta be ready for the deep end. I am so going to read Raphael's brother's book next. His name is Dante and he has rake written all over him. Beside, Amazon sells the twin pack on the cheap for Kindle so it was a no brainer to double up.

Portraying the russian revolution, George Orwell in the novel "Animal Farm" writes about a group of rfarm animals fighting for their freedom from the oppresive humans. In this mind bobbling novel that conflicts of heroism and has a political feel to it, in this a very good novel that displays what goes on in the real world.

I think about dr. Frankenstein, how he freely acted in a certain way, (quite innocently at first) but it eventually became an obsession leading him onto morally questionable grounds. He made choices, and this free-agent created something that stole away his freedom and ruined his life. It makes me think how we, with our choices, create monsters that enslave us. We have a choice at the ought set, but eventually the reality our actions made, becomes our master. Often things seem innocent enough at the start, but we feel a compulsion to continue going into the gray areas and eventually, we cross that line, and there is no returning to our former innocence and freedom. This classic story, shows what can happen to a noble goodhearted man, if he allows himself to be carried by his strongest inclinations. The tale shows quite well the evil tendency to treat the stranger and the different, with cruelty and harshness. And how even those we consider monsters of iniquity, had the human longing for love and tenderness at some point, and contained a great potential for so much goodness. At the close of this book, I cried, every part of me longed for some redemption, I wished that someone would have shown Frankenstein's creature some compassion and love. It was such a powerful story showing where rage and the pursuit of revenge leads. A good reminder to take to heart Jesus' command to forgive seventy times seven.

I read this in my least favorite high school English class of all time, after having never read a Steinbeck book that I liked. I ended up enjoying the hell out of it. The writing is tight, the characters are excellent, and the story is painful but amazing. The Pearl and The Red Pony made me hate Steinbeck, Of Mice and Men and The Grapes of Wrath led me to respect the man.

I really liked this book. A lot. Heroine's mom taught her to hide who/what she is & be ready to run at any instant. Then she gets blackmailed into stealing from a dragon's hoard by a crummy ex-boyfriend. (She takes a penny, but leaves one to replace it.) The dragon chases her, but oddly, doesn't kill her. Because she doesn't bore him. She's oddly intrigued by him too. And there's magic-folk politics, and the slow revelation of just exactly what the heroine is, and the build of a relationship between hero (the dragon--of course) and heroine, and a bunch of really cool stuff. Really. This is a great book. Read it.
