my kids are just learning to read, so this is fun for them, and I like that Wonder Woman saves everyone in the end, but...there is really no plot resolution at all.

It's a primer for all things green, grain, bean, etc. This book Local Flavors is a delight. It will inspire you to get you out to the farmer's markets and get connected with your food community. She's also dead on with flavors in the recipes, I haven't been disappointed in one yet.

I liked the beginning of this book a lot. The main character, George, was really fascinating. It's unusual to have a boy as the main character in this type of YA fantasy, but I really liked it. But, as usual with fantasy books that have been published lately (IMHO), the twist at the end was very bizarre. I was disappointed because the author is really talented. So, I enjoyed the book, some, but it will not go into my list of favorites, which is too bad. (Grade: "B-".)

At first glance Watership Down appears to be nothing more than a whimsical tale of a group of rabbits who, fearing the destruction of their underground warren, set out to find a new home. Upon reading this book, however, one quickly realizes that there is more at work here than talking bunny rabbits. I first read the book when I was a child and became mesmerized by the adventures and trials that Hazel, Fiver, Bigwig and the rest of the clan undertook through out the novel. As I grew older and revisited the novel, something I have done countless times over the years, I began to discover new layers that had largely gone unnoticed during my first reading. In telling the tales of these rabbits, Adams is able to make his own observations on the human creature and relay his own thoughts on such grand ideas as government, self-rule, religion, ecology, and even mortality. The beauty of this book, for me, is that one can read this book simply as a fantastical adventure or as a multi-faceted allegory. Either way, this book does no disappoint and continues to delight!

Rules of Civility is so well written with such a beautiful style of writing that I a.) couldn't put the book down and b.) felt like I was in New York in the late 1930's. The characters are developed just enough that you understand thoughts and feelings without the author having to spell it out for the reader which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I really like the older Scarpetta books, and I was hoping for a good reading experience. This one is not as good as the old books; Benton pretty much solves the crime, while Scarpetta is more of a bystander.
