Eviction Notice By Kwan The Streets Will Never Be The Same. What can I say that I haven't said already or that others haven't said? Kwan is one of the greatest street lit authors on the market past and present. I have been a supporter for a long time and with the quality stories this author is putting out, I will continue to be a supporter. I have never read an authors work that makes you want to go back and reread their earlier work. While reading "Eviction Notice" I was saying, “damn I need to go revisit some old friends”. I hope others can pick up on Kwan zest and flair for being able to have a standalone book (although this is book five in series) AND keep you up to date on earlier characters. I love how he tied some of his earlier works together while allowing the reader to keep up. The introduction of some new characters: Porsha, Frankie and Sahara keep the story moving right along. They are the main characters and roommates who receive eviction notice. They will have you laughing, yelling, and almost crying at/with the antics and situations they get themselves in. The answers are in about Animal. Picks up right where Section 8 left off and you won’t be disappointed. If you are a fan of this series, this book is worth it just to find out those details. Introduction of King James was a great plot although at times I wanted to shoot him myself. Looking forward to seeing how things progress or not with him. Shai Clark is back a crowd favorite. Music Mogul Don B is back and he still up to his old trick. We do get to see the business side of him and see that it’s not just dumb luck he on top. If you’re a true die hard supporter, you will enjoy catching up on some of his earlier work. I'm not going to spoil it for you just start flipping pages and you will see who. If by some chance, you have slept on this author I suggest that you start from the beginning (Gangsta) and work your way up and see what all the hype is about. I guarantee you will be like the rest of and waiting with baited breath for the next release. Those die hard supporters know K’wan releases are around the Sept/ Oct time of year. So get busy because you have some catching up to do SiStar Tea ARC Book Club Inc 5 star rating Oct. 18th 2011

** spoiler alert ** Ultimately, the experience of reading The Name of the Wind is like spending several days listening to someone very enthusiastically telling you about their favorite D&D character. There is a plot, at least there is the promise of one to be revealed in the sequels, but the vast majority of the book's 700 pages are about Kvothe, how awesome he his, how he got to be so awesome, and all of the awesome things he's done. Kvothe, the hero, is a master of all trades, a brilliant musician, but, of course, his only defect is that he simply doesn't notice that all the ladies love him. Like all great adventures, it begins in an inn, and the story tells the tale of a young, precocious genius, whose parents are killed by a mysterious evil, who makes his way to magic school where he quickly outshines the other students, making close friends and dangerous enemies of the teachers and other students. Yes, it's a thinly disguised adult take on Harry Potter, though the atmosphere is more borrowed from The Wizard of Earthsea, thankfully. The University material is actually pretty engaging and makes for a good read, but at some point mid way through the book's 700 pages you get the sinking feeling that nothing is actually going to happen in this volume to advance the main plot. Just as I had come to grips with that fact, the mysterious evil shows up again, and Kvothe goes to investigate, only to be sidetracked by a ridiculous climax where Kvothe tries to induce an overdose in a giant drug-addicted lizard. This episode, combined with a sharp focus in the last part of the book on Kvothe's irritating relationship with his main love interest, pretty much ruined my willingness to overlook the cliches, lack of editing, and other minor annoyances, and I finished the book on a rather sour note, with little interest in the sequels.
