I LOVED "Gone with the Wind", and this just couldn't compare. I was extremely disappointed with this book, I didn't even finish it.

I'm not a big graphic novel reader, although the more I read, the more addicted I become. It's like a step up from the ease of TV and a step down from the mental effort of a novel, great combo. In light of this, you probably know the history behind this graphic novel better than I, so I'll be quick. In a nutshell, The Dark Knight Returns is a classic because it brought Batman back to his dark roots and showcases Frank Miller's great film noir style. In The Dark Knight Returns, Bruce Wayne is old. He's been retired for 10 years and finds that he's still not done with the game. Of course, crime never rests, and the latest threat is from a gang calling themselves the Mutants. Throughout the graphic novel, Bruce Wayne/Batman continually reminds us how old he is. Every fight it's "that was lucky old man" and "I shouldn't be sweating already". While this works to heighten the drama, I've never been a fan of heroes "losing their powers" so to say. Same reason I wasn't the biggest fan of the second Spider-man movie. Batman has lost some spunk, but he's still knarly, and he still kicks butt. I was surprised at how many DC superheroes made appearances and after writing this, it sounds like there are more than just the few. I really enjoyed The Dark Knight Returns even though I had some nit-picks. In reality, it's a very interesting concept of an older superhero and I definitely recommend experiencing it.

While I definitely believe in the power of positive thinking, this book takes it a step over the edge. If anything, use it as a good tool to remind you to think positively and believe that you have the power to bring good things into your life. But, I wouldn't go so far as some of the miraculous claims that are made, nor believe that the good people I know who have had serious illnesses brought that upon themselves with their negative thoughts.

I loved this book! This is the prequel to The Bartimaeus Trilogy, of which I've listened to just the first one (The Amulet of Samarkand). I was eager for more Bartimaeus, but not so much for more Nathaniel, the main human character in the first book of the trilogy. The Ring of Solomon, however, goes back in time to Bartimaeus' adventures in the time of King Solomon, and it was excellent. I listened to the audiobook version and again, the narrator's voice was a real pleasure to experience.

This is a great book about healing and second chances, and it is beautifully told from the perspective of a 12-year-old girl who is wise beyond her years. Definitely hard to put down!

Yaygara neyle ilgili olduğunu anlamak için bunu okumalıydım. Her şeyi uydurduğunu anladığımda oldukça keyif aldım. Hızlı ve heyecan verici okuma ama daha ziyade formülsel (tüm komplo romanları aynı şekilde çalışıyor). Görünüşe göre bütün bir alt tür ortaya çıkmış.
