See, I could never get into Preacher. I'm all for swearing and violence and such, but Ennis never seems to use "Fuck!" when he can use "Fucking Fuck!" It seemed to be trying to piss off the religious right, and I think that sort of thing should just come more naturally.

I had read a previous book of hers set in Amish country, and looked forward to reading SECRETS OF HARMONY GROVE. It didn’t disappoint. Sienna is a realistic heroine, and written in first person, I got to know her very well. I recognized Mrs. Clark’s voice from previous books, but Sienna is her own unique character. Readers of suspense and Amish fiction won’t be disappointed by this book. I figured out some of the plot before it was revealed, but not all of it, and I really enjoyed the way it all was tied together. Bravo! I highly recommend this book. $13.99. 352 pages.

I have a hard time rating books like this. I definitely liked it, it was pretty short and simple and sweet. But don't really have much to say about it. Another trip into the idea of sameness and realizing the importance of being an individual. It was one of those books that, if I'd read it as a young adult, probably would have left a bigger impression. I didn't realize until just now that it was the first book in a series, so I guess I should read the other books before I comment too much.

Liked the wedding planning angle - something different and I can see that you could devise quite a few plots within that setting. Liked the main character Carnegie, but like a lot of main characters in cozy mysteries, I thought she was a little too naive. Despite this, I would probably read more in this series.

Was Jeffrey born a serial killer or was it environmental influences? If you're looking for that answer you will not find it in this book by his father. It's interesting to note that Jeffrey's mother was had a very difficult pregnancy with him and was ingesting 26 pills a day whilst pregnant with Jeff. IMO his psychotic behavior is a mix of biological and environmental influences. Jeff was narcissistic and lacked emotion & empathy for humans. I read this book in two days and kept hoping for some emotion from his father but I get the feeling he has no feelings either.

First thought when I finished the last sentence: "Oh my! I think I've fallen in love with a new character- Kubu!" Reasons I chose this book- After reading the synopsis I just knew this was a book that I would enjoy..give me a good mystery that takes place in Africa and I'm sure to be hooked! Reasons I liked this book- The characters! Hands down they won me over. They felt real to me and as I was reading, their faces appeared in my imagination. When that happens I know I'm in for a real treat! I absolutely loved the main character, Kubu. He was fully fleshed out and vibrant. He has a real zest for life, most especially for his wine and a good meal that includes lots of meat! There was this authentic feel to him and I believe that's why I connected immediately with this story and his life. Reasons why I am recommending this book- This is a solid, well-written mystery that had me from the very beginning. The authors did an amazing job of bringing Africa to life for their readers...this is a brilliant story with a cast of characters that speak to you....I'll be back for more!
