Much better than The Tipping Point, and almost as good as Outliers. Still pop culture science, which is great if you're into that kind of thing. The book is easy to read, but could stand a little better organization of the last 3 chapters.

This was an excellent book. I couldn't believe they were going to have them go thru that all over again. You know, all thru book one, I just couldn't get on board with Peeta. I just thought he was too good, and then he had fought for a minute with the careers. By second book I'm just, well he is just too good to be true, and everybody is obviously looking out for him (with...basically...the exception of the careers) so then I was assuming they would kill him, just because he was too good. I'm well into the third book. Hope it does the other two proud!

these books were an essential part of growing up. in retrospect, and rather worryingly, they made incest sound kinda glamourous...which is a little wrong (although according to grazia magazine, "sex between brother and sister is now legal in the netherlands, luxembourg, belgium, portugal, turkey, brazil, and argentina".

Probably my least favorite of the series. There was not much of a plot, and some of Stephanie's more inane moves really got on my nerves this time. I do love Ranger, though, which was a good thing for this book! I have enjoyed listening to these audiobooks on my commute, and I am sad to see that CJ Critt doesn't narrate them after this one -- she is one of the reasons I keep listening.

** spoiler alert ** I didn't like the beginning because I thought it read like an essay instead of a story and it was pretentious. Once the adventure began, I was hooked. I really enjoyed it. And then the end ruined it for me. The only reason one story was better than the other is one had details and the other didn't. Any story of survival can be majestic and I really feel like I wasted my time listening to someone just make stuff up instead of tell the truth with detail and wonder. Maybe I'm just a stickler for truth, but I wanted to know what really happened instead of the "better" story. I couldn't stand the book after the ending, which is such a shame because I enjoyed the story so much before.

I loved the first two books of the series because I learned through them about the first world war in England, how it changed the place of women in society, about drug addiction too. Years after reading them I still remember bits and pieces of these books. This third book however is more of just a mystery. After this I started The Moore and never could finish it. It's a shame that this very promising series lost so much steam.
