what a positive, resilience building tool. I have a beautiful 16yo daughter battling anorexia. This book not only gives very powerful and informative insights into eating disorders, it makes the light at the end of the tunnel seem achievable. Highly recommend it and kudos to everyone who shared their journeys.

Last time I wrote a review of Master and Commander, it ran, well, long. It's hard not to lavish the love one has for the whole series upon its first splendid installment. I'll do my best to be brief. Patrick O'Brian writes strong, varied and evocative prose. His characters are distinctive, human and easy to love. These books teem with the unexpected, with the promise of a battle or a rich prize always over the horizon. They are a joy to read and to reread; funny, poignant, stirring, intelligent. Master and Commander is, as I believe all the Aubrey-Maturin series is, on one level about friendship. The chance encounter that opens the novel also opens up the lives of the characters to unforeseen breadth and potential. Aubrey's genius on the sea needs Maturin's wary guardianship on land to allow it to prosper; Maturin's morbid inwardness leaves him in need of Jack's bluff friendship and practicality to pull him back into the human world. The entire rich sweep of the novels begins in the encounter of the jolly lieutenant and the annoyed man in the drab coat, depends and expounds on the way deep friendships can transform the friends and the world.

This is probably the best book I have ever read.

Tain, an immortal warrior, was captured by a demon, an Old One for 700 years. His brothers and their girlfriends managed to save him, but he's still not back to normal. Samantha is half-demon and also a cop. She was instrumental in Tain's rescue, but isn't sure she wants any more to do with him after that. When someone starts kidnapping young demon women and cutting out their hearts, Samantha and Tain are thrown back together to figure out who's doing it. Jennifer Ashley delivers another entrancing volume in the Immortals series. The Redeeming has much darker themes than the previous books, which were mostly straight-forwardly about defeating the big bad demon. Here, the question of whether you can be a demon and still be a good guy is explored in more detail. For those of you familiar with the work of Joss Whedon, this book is more like an episode of Angel than Buffy. One criticism I have is that I've started skipping Ashley's love scenes. The language is just slightly too graphic for me. However, I will still fight to get my hands on any more Immortals books as soon as they're written.

Even though i didn't like parts about the ending i did find the story as a whole to be really good. I found myself glued to the story, just wanting to see what was going to happen next. I was worried that the comedy was going to be cheesy, but it ended up being pretty funny and i enjoyed it. It wasn't one big sitcom, it was just normal teenage fun. I would recommend this to anyone who is into vampires and wants a different change in pace than the typical female narrated, girl falls in love with vampire, happy ending babble that i usually love =]
I think this book is better one! It's very romantic and I love Patch ♥

The Good Stuff * This wasn't my cup of tea guys, but don't let my review affect you too much as she is a fantastic writer, and I have read many fantastic reviews of the book, but I just couldn't get into it * Bitingly funny at times * Well written and the story flows nicely told between modern day and flash backs * Author is outstanding at making you see the character she is describing, I felt like I really knew the characters even if I didn't like them * A extremely realistic portrayal of many families during the 70's * Emery is an interesting character and I really felt for him The Not so Good Stuff * The parents are so narcissistic and just bloody awful parents, that they really turned me off from getting into the story. In fact most of the characters were just genuinely unlikeable, which makes is hard for me personally get into a novel Favorite Quotes/Passages "Portia begins speaking for the cat, saying what she believes Maggie Bucks is thinking. Emery, who is sitting at the kitchen table reading the paper, assumes that Portia is giving her a cartoon-like Asian accent because the cast is Siamese." "What you do here, Connecticut Girl? Smoker Lady no here! Smoker Lady in hospital! You go home now! You go back to Greenwich! I no want you here, Connecticut Girl!" "The idea that her mother wouldn't have the same occupation as her friends' mothers enraged Anna. Who would have the nerve to give birth to children, move them into a house and declare that she wasn't going to take care of them? A drug-addicted hippie, Anna decided, that's who." What I Learned * That I was a kid during the 70's and I am so lucky that my parents didn't do any of the shit that these kids useless parents did Who should/shouldn't read * Not for me or for those with similar reading likes & dislikes * Better for a more educated reader who likes something a little more thought provoking * Bet ya my sister in law will love it -- we always have opposite reading tastes -- totally love her though!! * Please if you think this is something you might like, go for it, the writing is brilliant -- I'm just a simple girl who needs to find someone to really like and cheer for, for me to love 2.75 Dewey's (This is based on my personal experience with the book, not on the quality of the writing, which is exceptional) I received this book from HarperPerennial in Exchange for an honest review

Man, there are some good kid graphic novels being written these days! Here's another. Good kid Garth is accidentally zapped into the afterlife by washed-up ghost wrangler Frank Gallows via the interference of one very enthusiastic escapee skeleton horse. (And if you want to know about Doug TenNapel's artistic skills, just imagine drawing a skeleton horse with tons of personality. No mean feat.) To complicate matters, Garth has an incurable disease, his mom and grandfather never got along, the afterlife is ruled by a crazy guy who keeps the different factions warring against each other, and Frank's only hope at getting his job back lies with the ghost Claire, who also happens to be his ex. If there were Oscars for kid GNs, I'd nominate this one for Best Physical Comedy, Best Climactic Fight Scene, Best Animated Mummy Squirrels, and Most Surprisingly Tear-Inducing Ending. Sniff. At the end of it all, this really is a story about family. *booktalking note: show p. 36-37, where Garth and the nightmare get zapped Favorite quotes: "Down here [in the afterlife] we get put back to our internal age. It gives us a chance to take care of unfinished business." "Imagine you have an imagination!"

İslam'a davet olarak güzel bir kitapçık, ancak ilkokul öğrencilerinin anlamlarını bildikleri kelimeleri açıkladıkları için bazı marjlar sinir bozucu
