I really wanted to like this book, but I didn't. It had so many things wrong with it. There isn't a lot of character development, so I felt like I never got to know any of the characters other than maybe Ruthie, since she was narrating. Also, the story was SO disjointed. It jumped all around, from time to time and place to place, and there wasn't a lot of continuity to it. I thought it was going to be about the two sisters, and how they dealt with the aftermath of their parents' death -- but that seemed to only be addressed in a very minor way. There was so much that was thrown in there that just wasn't interesting or didn't seem to matter in the grand scheme of the story. Another huge pet peeve of mine is when things are brought up in a story, but then left unanswered at the end. Like what really happened during all those years to Julia? This was supposed to be a story about the sisters, but we hardly heard anything about Julia. What happened to her after The Center? Why/how did she become lesbian? Also, what happened with all the letters that Naomi wrote that the new owner of the fancy house in Atlanta found and gave to Ruthie? What was in them? Did Ruthie share the letters with Julia for her memoir? Did the sisters finally close the gap? Also, why did Ruthie and Gabe even stay together? They seemed to have so little in common, and he did nothing but annoy me. So much was left unanswered, it really irritated me. I put the book down at the end feeling totally unsatisfied. There was also just to little detail to parts of the story that I felt should have been explained more, and way too much detail in other parts -- like all of the painful mundane details of all the neighborhoods in Atlanta, and even San Francisco, to some extent, which surely are only interesting to those who live/lived there--- for me, it was just boring crap to skim over. Overall, this was a disjointed, boring, not all that interesting story that had potential, but fell really short. I will not be recommending this to anyone.

The authors look at issues in sports such as why home field advantage exists, going for it on fourth down in the NFL, when to sit a player who is one foul from fouling out in a basketball game, and the socio-economic incentives for using performance enhancing drugs in baseball. It makes for an interesting read. Fun and not too serious.

This is a story of Rufus the Red Kangaroo who growing up and becoming independent. This story is overlain on the canvas of life in the desert - a long drought followed by soaking, life-giving rains. The references to Uluru (aka Ayers Rock) reflect that this book was published in 1970. There are repeated references to climbing the rock, which was incredibly popular for tourists. However these days the requests of the local Aṉangu people to not climb the rock are much more visible, and the popularity of the climb has deminished dramatically as a result.

The Kate Daniels series contains a world and characters that are awesome their complexities and grabs my attention anew which each book, and Magic Bleeds is the best yet out of them all. The whole setup for this series makes reading each book feel like a place I just want to dig into and setup my own personal immovable spot. Magic Bleeds was an action packed and fascinating read from start to finish. I haven't read a book like this one that had me so revved up for the next book in a series in a long while. Well, not since reading Dreamfever. [winks] Kate Daniels as a heroine for me is perfect. She's smart talking and tough on the outside with mad fighting skills but she has a softer side that she tries to keep hidden, that has a tendency to bleed over into her actions and decisions that truly pulls me to her. Curran as Kate's love interest is also perfect. Curran and Kate together is perfection. I couldn't think of a better person for Kate. He makes my toes curl, in a good way. The rest of the characters all have their individual quirks that make them feel real as a fiction character can, especially the bad guys. The bad guys. Whoa, they left me with a hopeless feeling in my gut, speculating on how will Kate get herself and everyone involved out of their dire circumstances. All in all, to be brief and to the point, just do yourself a favor pick up this book but also get the first three if you haven't read them because they are so well worth any reader's time and money. You'll find suspense, intrigue, interesting characters you'll want to call your friends and the perfect romance. I'm going to end this with Kate's on words "Bring it!" because I can't wait to dig in with next book in this series, Magic Slays.

I really enjoyed this book. The teen angst and romance were touching and sweet and made me remember being a girl in high school with an almost-unattainable crush. My only reservations were that its geared toward teenagers and it had some implied sex, a couple of instances of binge drinking and a few bad words, which was too bad because otherwise my teenager would have liked it.

The timeline of this book starts around 2039. When the world is taken over by a virus and people are not allowed to enter any place without having a blood-test first and greetings later. I loved the entire situation from the get go. Georgia and Shaun, two siblings along with their blogger crew they report the news to the world. The world around them is tough but they are fighting it with what they have. By delivering the truth. The author created a world where Zombie's exist and if you are infected there are no antivirus. The world is scary in there *not that it isn't scary in the real world* and there are moments when you want nothing more than to hide under your blankets till the horrific scene is over. But it's sucks you in even though the blood and virus spreads faster than a wildfire. Grant's book is very well written and quite impossible to put down till you rich the end. I must admit that I am not so big on audio-books after this. I feel like if I had read it rather than listened to the books I would have enjoyed it even more. Although both Paula Christensen and Jesse Barnstein has very attractive voice. This is my first zombie book, and I am glad that I gave this one a try. If you are a sci-fi, Zombie lover I will definitely suggest this, it is a must read.
