Nice, funny and entertaining story and romantic of course :). The amazing thing is all of the story perform in email, however it did not less the power of story.

I ended up enjoying this book, about a woman who is summoned to finish the manuscript of an old friend who has met a mysterious death in Cambridge, though the ending was a bit vague for my tastes. Lots of info on Isaac Newton, alchemy, and Cambridge during the 17th century. Listened to the audio version which was read ably by Rosalyn Landor.

I thought this book was very enduring/sad. The book first starts out with a young girl by the name of Anne Frank. She was only 13 years old when the holocaust started. Her family had to go in hiding for a very long time (2 years). Also they bairly had enough food to get by because they had another family hiding with them. I thought the climax of this book was when they were caught. When they were caught they were sent to Auschwitz. Then Anne frank and her sister were seperated from there family and they were sent from Auschwitz to Bergen-Belsen.

Matthew Pearl writes historical fiction based on figures from the literary world. After reading The Dante Club and The Poe Shadow I became a fan. Perhaps because this one centered around an English author (Charles Dickens) or perhaps because the action was slow and the plot a little drawn out, The Last Dickens did not impress me as much as his first two books. I will say that it did have all the historic accuracy that Pearl is known for. I gave three stars because his writing style is smooth and palatable, as always. The Last Dickens has not discouraged me from reading Pearl's future novels. To any reader wishing to break into the genre of historical fiction, I highly recommend The Dante Club as an outstanding example.

I am not sure what I think about this one. From what I read this was Mr. Westerfeld's first book so I will not judge him wholly on this book alone. I could not really get into the whole concept of this book. It just kind of went over my head. I liked the main character and liked the book enough to finish it, but it is not one of those books I was excited to continue reading nor will I likely remember it six months from now. So...I guess you could say it was "just ok". Not bad. Not great. p.s. I did like the audiobook narrator.

Another great YA read. At first I got really confused between the "past" and "present" and the connections between them. I also had difficulty keeping the 5 characters from the past straight--they all had unisex names and that was confusing. But about half-way through it sucked me in and I really enjoyed it. The mystery of the connections between characters now and in the past and trying to figure it out made it a great read. The romance was really well done.

I don't know what it was, but I wasn't very motivated to finish this book. I wanted to like it, but it wasn't very exciting to me, and I got about 40% of the way through.

This book has a special place in my heart considering this was also my father's stomping grounds in Oakland and San Francisco. It brings an obscured world into better perspective for me, and Thompson's unique style is enthralling.

This probably would have made an excellent short story, but the longer the book went on, the more cliched the characters became and the story completely lost focus, and the end was a mess. I don't think characters necessarily need to be likable, or find redemption, for a story to be satisfying, but I do think there needs to be a reason for crafting a story around them, other than that the fact of their wealth, which certainly doesn't automatically make them worth writing about.

I enjoyed the second book of the Percy Jackson series, but to be honest it wasn't that good in my opinion. I like the writing style of Rick Riordan and I like the main story, but I expected more from this book. I liked it but the story didn't made me feel closer to events like the first book.
