Adam is a skinny and young guy, a grad student in the college where Tom, a carpenter, is restoring an old library. They start a friendship that soon turn out in love. Everything seems perfect but Adam is strange: he gets bruises everytime and Tom knows nobody hurts him. He doesn't eat or sleep when he is alone, but when he is with Tom he has a strong appettite and could sleep for an entire night without problem. So where is the problem? Is it true that Alan, the dead twin brother of Adam, is haunting him? Tom is a wonderful character: he is strong and genuine, open and lovely. He is the normality and the reality that Adam needs to live a normal life, even Tom's mother id the classical housewife who cooks better than a cook. Adam has given uo the possibility to have that life and he contents himself with the time Tom will remain with him before to run away. The love between them is so simple and linear, a strong contrast with the madness of Adam's life. I think this is one of the best book I have read by Mike Shade: in this one maybe there is less sex than the others, but when you have it, it is of good quality. And also the characterization of the two protagonist is a lot more complete. Their role is unknown, even to themselves, and unacknowledged. As I read, I began looking around at the people I notice the least and wondering, is that one a secret saint?

I have read a few if this series now. They are very similar to the many other teen vampire school novels that exist. One thing that is a bit troubling about this mother/daughter writing team is the jump in writing style between formal and informal writing.. I am assuming mom is more formal but.. ? One very strong part of the book is the ending. Along with the others in the series it has a cliffhanger that makes you want to read the next one. I need to know what happens to Grandma!

Another book I love!!! Used for one of my lessons on Main Idea and supporting details in the 1st grade.Children love it!! Very cute story about small mouse, Chrysanthemum, who loves her name. Even though, her classmates giving her hard time for having a longer name, she still love it.It teaches students to love yourself even if you are different.

The book traces a group of girls who are recent college grads through their twenties. Girls in White Dresses is written in the first person with different characters who are all friends narrating each chapter. Jobs, families, where to live, friendship, boyfriends, and later husbands and children are the main focal points of these girls. Their lives are discussed using how they are felling and what they they are doing at that moment to further the story. While it may seem like a superficial read since many times the why is not discussed, I feel as though it is a story which most women in their twenties feel as though they are living. Many times it is hard to explain the why when they themselves do not understand it. As I read the book I kept relating to them and realized the book is really a discussion of adulthood.

Read for my church book club. Enjoy Scott Hahn's writing style- each chapter being a different aspect of a priests role. Also found it interesting written from the point of view of a former protestant minister converted to catholocism.

I have never read any witch/vampire/demon fiction before, but this novel was written by an academic historian at USC, and I was so impressed when I heard about her novel-writing success that I wanted to try the book. I really enjoyed it, aside from the domineering traits of the vampire love interest and the witch's toleration of them. Bring on the next two books in the trilogy!
