Another very good book. My only hesitation is the fated love story, I know a lot of people go for that but I like my heroines to have an element of choice in their actions, and there's definitely a stalker-ish feeling about the way Reyes has been watching Charley for her entire life. And dealing with Reyes is a much bigger part of this book than the last. But the PI story is still very significant, and I do like the Reyes story. Anyway, I'm not complaining, it just knocked it back a little bit in my preferences but not in my judgement of how well it was done. I still plowed through it in one day, loved the mystery, romance and humor and can't wait for the next book.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if the Nazi's won WWII? This long-winded story takes you into the history of the Nazi regime and weaves a somewhat outlandish plot around the Nazi party and an underground group attempting to undermine their attempts at "ethnically cleansing" their society and taking over Europe. I may knock the book a bit, but weighing in at over 1,000 pages you know it had to at least be well written and enjoyable for me to continue reading it. By the second section of the book you are invested in the main characters and want them to succeed in their resistance.

Have you ever read Bill Bryson? Because he is funny. Nay, hilarious. This book was funny, but not one of my favorites of his. Perhaps it's because I was not alive in the 50s, perhaps it's because he gets a little mouthy and dirty (pre-pubescent boys, sheesh). In any event, I still thought it was a great read, and would give it 3.5 stars if I could. There were definitely laugh-out-loud moments.

Probably would have given it 3 stars but there is lots of sex in it. I wondered while reading it how much of Twilight was taken from this book. There are a lot of similarities. The main character can read minds but is attracted to a vampire because she can't read his mind. **quick spoiler warning** There's a shapeshifter alternate love interest that can take dog form (hello Jacob?). Vampires live in modern times and they think they're caused by a virus. It all seems suspiciously similar to me. I haven't read much vampire fiction, but this one was ok if you like murder mysteries written in first person.
