This book was a riot! If you're a Denis Leary fan, you'll surely enjoy it. If you're not, you surely won't.

Well....OOPS. Unknown to me, my Audible app only downloaded the second part of this book...here I thought Mira Grant had cunningly skipped straight to the action and let us learn about the world as we flew rather than deal with any sort of set up, when in reality I only listened to the second half of the book. It was awesome, and I'm sad I missed the beginning, but knowing where everything goes I'm going to cut my losses and call this one read. Hopefully I'll have been luck with the rest of the series. *sigh*

I received an Advanced Reader of this book, and was blown away. It was the first (and so far, only) book by Roth that I'd read, and his style was easy and impressive. An absolute recommend.

A sort of cautionary tale about our dependence and abuse of water. For those of us who live in the desert, this book is very relevant. There is a bit of "magic" and it's an easy read, but not a terribly exciting one.

I was warned that this would be "tough reading" which is an understatement. This is a story that had to be told but it truly makes one ask "why, why, why...." and question the existence of a God that would allow such suffering. Humanity at it's most evil.....

This is about an American girl in the 50s who is traveling in Paris. She's an aspiring actress. But it's sarcastic and smart enough that you don't feel like you are reading total chic-lit. The plot follows some of her love affairs, and I was definitely shocked, because this book is a little bit more racy than I would have thought. It was originally published in the late 1950s, so I guess I just expected it be more conservative. However, the way it reads is a little antiquated, I guess it's more 50s slang. There was definitely a "jiving" in there! It took a little getting used to. I also love how it's one of those plots that starts in the middle, then backtracks and fills you in. But, the climax was WAY at the end of the book. All of the sudden it started moving so fast and was over. It was an interesting read, but not a fav.

It was a fun read. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. I enjoyed having the strong female characters, but found the male lead a bit ... flat and frankly all of the character traits were lacking a bit of depth. Also, the writing was a bit repetitive. I get it, she's stubborn. You've said it 15 times. She'll behave stubbornly. Got it. ;) It also lost a star for a few moments where I had to put the book down because it crossed a little too far into "bodice ripping romance" land for my tastes and I was scared to continue. That being said, I'll probably read the second one because I'm a sucker for vampire/human romances. Get it, sucker. Ha.Ha.eh...

A very quick read written by the star of "The Death of Richie." It can go a little overboard in parts, but overall it was fun to read.

Very good book, can be placed beside some of the best that Grisham has written. The story is engaging from the beginning and moves along at a good pace. I listened to the audio and the reader did an excellent job at bringing the story to life.

Naff and predictable. Not sure if this is the authors first novel but it read like it. Darina is particularly irritating and immature.
