Currently reading..... Cannot assess it as of yet. It is, however, very captivating.

It was rather hard for me to read about a blond blue eyed little boy almost dying...but it was an interesting book. Not entirely sure what I think about the whole thing, but it's a quick read. Generally, I believe in heaven, but I kind of like the ideas from the shack better than the idea of some place with gold and jewels and all that. But what do I know? Honestly don't want to find out any time soon. ;)

** spoiler alert ** As an avid baseball fan I had sky high expectations for this book, and unfortunately I'm worried that maybe this colored me against this book a bit. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the book and would recommend it heartily to anyone, but it didn't live up to the hype that I (and the couple of people who have recommended it to me) placed upon it. The writing style can be a tad tough at times, as the narrative jumps from Henry's real life into the baseball world without any indication that a jump has taken place. Sometimes they are even one in the same, as quotes that take place in Henry's made-up baseball world he sometimes says out loud, to the general puzzlement of those around him. I also was not a big fan of the ending. SPOILER ALERT I didn't like that the entire ending chapter took place in Henry's fictional baseball world entirely and didn't tell us anything about what went on with this life or how in the hell he managed to play 100 more seasons of baseball. If it takes 2 months per season as he stated in the book, that would be 200 months, and he's near retirement age at the start of the book. So, he'd easily be in his 70's at the ending. I just felt like we needed something more about his life besides whatever seeps in about him through the narrative of the players.

Read for Homeschool. Didn't really like it - violent and graphic is some places, boring in others.

I didn't realize this was the second in a series when I started reading it. I got lost in the storyline a few times and didn't understand the world at first. I went back and read the first book to get the full experience of the Society. That being said, I ended up really liking this book. Matt and Brennan played well of each other and made a likable couple. I would've liked more of a back story on Brennan then what was written, but it wasn't missing enough to take away from the story. The rest of the characters were well written, too. I'm guessing by the way it ended that there will be more in this series. I'm actually finding myself to looking forward to it.

I thought this would have more of the characters I love but most (over half) of the book was dedicated to the characters that were involved in the trial. I thought the main characters were annoying and was glad to finally get to Dismas. Having said that, it kept my attention enough to keep reading and I liked the ending. If you like his other books you'd probably like this one. Definitely keep an eye out for Plague of Secrets- that one was great!
** spoiler alert ** I loved this book...until the ending which sucked. It was as if her editors told her to "happy it up" for a stupid overly romantic American audience.

The book primarily focuses on Jews who don't want to be Jews and why they are bad people, as well as why the world hates Israel and are thus bad people, but honestly, it's a pretty universal look at what it is and what it means to abandon your heritage and roots for something flimsier. Unless you are Honduran. In which case, live long and prosper, Geraldo Pablo Calabazas Jerry P. Clark.

She's really chatty, so it's a very accessible book with personal stories woven into a larger pursuit of addressing Islamic feminism, particularly in Morocco.

I adore the vampire diaries and read the original series way before the series came out, so I had to admit I was counting down the days till the release of nightfall. Yet when I read the books I was sadly disappointed. The book lived up to my fears and then some. I felt like the book was Smith's opportunity to cash in on the vampire craze that Twilight and True Blood created. I didn't get most of the plot with the child like demon people and Stefan's kidnapping. After reading this new addition to the series I tend to view it like I see animated movie sequels.... they don't exist and I shall cuddle the original series possessively.
