I absolutely loved it. I had picked it at a girls weekend book swap and it was a large, hardcover book that I had to drag around with me but it was well worth it. Great writing, story and message. I'd highly recommend it!

Valuable to me for the sections about Richard Serra, James Turrell and Jasper Johns, the three (of the ten artists featured) who particularly intrigue me. I skimmed the other sections with less interest, but do consider this a useful compilation of Tomkins's articles from the New Yorker. (I'd have called it "Lives of Some Artists," though.)

I was very interested in this book when I started. The reviews were great and indicated there was a mystery flavor to it. That's not quite right - the book is really about the breakdown of marriages and relationships. While there is some interesting bits, I found the book plodding and the author revisited themes to the point where I wanted to yell, "I get it, I get it!" It seemed to me that the men where all more sympathetic than the women, but only just. I expected more.

I listened to this book while driving in my new Jeep. A book listened to is a different book from the one read, and my review is perhaps even further biased by the fact that I love driving my Jeep - and so was most likely in a good mood as I listened to it. Even given all that - I wasn't sure I liked it at all in the beginning. I acquiesced when the horse got stuck in the sinkhole. After that I really looked forward to my listening sessions. It was not a book I expected from A.M. Homes, but was glad for it all the same. I found it uproariously funny - laughing out loud while cruising down Rt. 8 - wishing to be in Malibu for just a little while. Thanks to Anhil, I will never look at a donut in the same way. And seeing Bob Dylan looking old on the neighbor's deck through binoculars was one of the many things that made this book just absurd enough to be real. In the end - I liked it so much that I might just have to read the print version too!

BU GONE SERİSİ İÇİN EN MÜKEMMEL SONLANDI !!!!!!! Ben kesinlikle bu dizi sevdi ve "Işık" beni hiç hayal kırıklığına uğratmadı! Hikayenin birçok bölümünde üzgün olmama rağmen, hikayeden biraz memnun kaldım. Bence Michael Grant, karakterin gerçek kişiliğini korumak ve sonunda her şeyi mutlu ve tatlı gibi şekerlememek için mükemmel bir iş çıkardı. Bu gerçekten gerçekçi ya da hikayeye sığmaz. Bu serinin muhteşem bir sonu oldu. Kitapta her şeyin nasıl bir anlamı olduğunu sevdim ve hiçbir şey dışarıda bırakılmadı. Michael Grant'e fantastik ve ilginç yeni bir dünya yarattığın için teşekkür ederim!
