Entertaining story. Funny juxtaposition between industry and academia. Confirmed the fact that I liked the first one so much pretty much solely because of the funny references to Berkeley.

This is the first crime book by John Banville, winner of the Booker Prize. The story is set in the '50s and is full of rich period details. This is a fine tale of suspence, but it is a rather predicatable mystery. The characters are engaging. I'm keen to check out the second book in the series in the hope that the plot of the next book will be equal to the characters.

I know this is a classic and everything, but I had a hard time getting into it. I have always thought this book was interesting, but I have to say, I like the book "1984" much better. It is interesting the perception of what the future holds. I would like to say that it isn't possible, but it is... everything seems possible these days.

So far... Stephen Hawking is a brilliant phycisist. I am not. Still, this book is written in such a way that even I can understand it. I have almost no background in physics (I'm a chemistry person, really), but I'm still finding that I can grasp the concepts he presents. It's a really interesting thing for me to learn about, and the fact that I nearly failed physics in college doesn't seem to hinder my ability to understand what Hawking is talking about. It makes me want to go out and learn more physics.

I thought the book was interesting and a great book for young adults. The main character, Brandon was the strongest and biggest kid in his school and was known as a bully. But when he meets Leon, Winnie and Sam, everything changes. Brandon doesnt care what race they are but decides to do the right thing and help Leons family stay together as a family.:)

I read this book back when I was in high school. While 96% of my fellow classmates claimed to struggle through it and seemed to just loathe the story in general, I genuinely enjoyed it. I won't dance around the subject that the overall motif of the book is disturbing and terrifying; after all, no one really wants to be told how savage and licentious mankind truly is when we are stripped of our most basic resources. However, I think it did a great job reminding me of a lot of simple, yet important things people always take for granted. William Golding did a fabulous job as far as dialogue and plot go, I was on the edge of my seat throughout the events of the book. The language was fluent and the imagery was very concrete and easy to understand.
