This book was recommended by a dear friend who owns a yoga studio since I was eager to learn more about the topic and develop my practice. Excellent writing and explanation of the asanas, mudras, and the fact that yoga is for everyone not just people who can bend like a pretzel. The inclusion of Patanjali's Yoga Sutra is a welcomed bonus and steeped in profound wisdom.

This book was very well-written. The story was original and moves at a steady pace, keeping the reader interested throughout. The author makes his characters relatable, making you either love them or hate them. This is a great read!

Well, I finished it. I kept waiting for it to get better. In the end I turned the last page feeling unsatisfied. The book felt like unconnected ramblings built on an uncredible premise. Willie Templetons mother gave her hints about who her father was and then "sent" her on a quest to find him. There were inter-chapters in the voice of long dead ancestors, a ghost, hidden letters and the monster (think Loch Ness or Champy)in the lake.. Actually writing about it makes it seem more coherent than it is. In the end blah. The one insight that I enjoyed was the insight, fictional though it may be, into Cooperstown, NY. Now I want to go to Cooperstown and read the history there.

I don't usually like to read a series out of sequence and while I have read Howl's Moving Castle many times (and nearly built a religion of rewatching the movie) I have not read #2. Yet here I am, reviewing #3. There are as many ways to enjoy a series as there are doorways revolving in a wizard's house. I'm familiar enough with Diana Wynne Jones work to know that you can pick up any of the books in any of her series and read from anywhere and be instantly (if not literally) enchanted. This was no exception. I adored the bookish main character Charming/Charmain and a world in which magic is common, though not quite respectable. So many complex ideas (folding time/space, willful magical objects, etc) are unpacked simply and greedily as a suitcase full of pastries. Bon appetit! I read it through in one sitting. It's that tasty.
