It definately had a slow first half but then became more interesting. It didn't take much time and it was neat to see how it tied in to the Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe. If you haven't read either, I would read the Lion, the witch, and the Wardrobe first.

I loved this book so much because the reader knew more about each of the characters than they did about one another. The reader understands the reasons behind Alice's lack of warmth while also seeing how her distant behavior affects her family.
