Maggie doesn't like cursive and I do. She also has to go to the principal a lot of times. She was never happy, until her teacher gave her a hug.

this is a good book.... tells about tally and in her world, a mandatory surgery is made to turn you into a "pretty" so that your facial features are just perfect. Her friend is a few months older than her, so he turns into a "pretty" before her. Tally really wants to become a "pretty" now, until... she meets a girl named Shay. Shay doesnt want to become a pretty and wants to run away, like her friend did. Shay offers Tally a chance to join her, but she turns down the offer. Shay left Tally a poem of directions to follow to get to the hideout, where Shay is going, just in case she changes her mind. The city officials some how found out about Shay's escape and called Tally to their office. She has two choices, either to turn in her friend and become a "pretty", or to NEVER turn into a pretty. (she wants to because her dear friend is a "pretty") read the book to see what happens......

I read a lot of books. I don't frequently run across books I really love, anymore. There's a lot of junk. But this one I loved. It's mostly a coming-of-age story of this high school boy. He meets a very strange girl who becomes his girlfriend. Most of what I loved about the book was all of the weird art and music she got him (and therefore the reader) interested in. There are MANY references in this book that have got me reading all sorts of other things. But beyond that, or related perhaps, is the way she got him to look around at the world and find it to be a more interesting place. She cracked open the world for him. I like reading glimpses of that because I need more of it, myself. The book doesn't exactly have an ending. The girl disappears and the narrator never figures out what happened to her. Theoretically there are clues within the book that tell you what's going on, even while the narrator can't interpret them. There's also a web site where you can get mailed further clues. I didn't figure out in any definitive way what happened, but the further clues taught me of some really nifty bands and artists, like the rest of the book did. Half of the books I'm bothering to list today are things I read because I read this one first.

Here I go again, reading books about brains. But seriously, read this NOW. It really is new information. Everything I ever believed about post-stroke recovery is wrong. New methods allow people to recover movement in paralyzed limbs YEARS after a stroke. This thing is fascinating and it goes fast.

This book was banned in Bangladesh and some parts of India, which made me read the book. The story is pretty graphic, and sad. The author starts the book with these words: "let another name for religion be humanism." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lajja
