I had heard so many raves of Wodehouse's Jeeves that I thought I ought to give this book a try. I was pretty bored with the first third of it. The middle section (the section that is NOT about Jeeves, despite the name) was the best, I think, and had me laughing out loud quite a bit. The end of the book was OK as well. The stories are rather formulaic. That's sometimes a problem, sometimes not, but all in all an entertaining read. I'll be reading more Wodehouse, I'm sure.

I got a copy of this book for free at a Daily Show taping because the author was being interviewed, and I read it primarily as a skimmer while waiting for my World War II first person shooter to load, in order to get me in the mood. As a simple account of what it's like to be a solider on the ground in Iraq it serves just fine, but that's about the most you can say for it -- as literature, its reach is much further than its grasp. The individual stories Crawford tells are interesting, but his reflections on his personal journey are tepid, and the unclear attempt at a "twist ending" just left me confused. It's not the worst war memoir in the world, but I'd imagine that you'd rather be reading one of the best.

I read this in early middle school. Unlike all the other young adult books that were recommended for me or classics assigned to me, this book was easy and light. It didn't contain any heavy topics like drug abuse or kidnapping. It was just a fun little romance story. I really enjoyed that wasn't teaching me about some big issue, that it was short and easy to read, and that it was about shy people, because I was shy, but interested in romance.

This book was kind of interesting. I was definitely entertained while reading but I got to the end and I was kind of left a bit neutral. I like books that make me think about something afterwards or when I'm not reading it. I didn't feel that much after this one, but I still enjoyed reading it.

This was a great introduction into the series, I would have preferred a little bit more action or maybe a little bit higher body count.. teehee.. but overall it was satisfactory within the YA realm :) Kate's life has never meant less to her. With the death of her parents still clutching at her heart, and the recent move to the city of Paris, Kate can't pull herself out of the ice cold depression she has encased herself in. Her sister Georgia is just as depressed as she is, but her idea of mourning means to go out to as many parties as she can and dance away her sorrows. If only Kate had the energy to do that. Burying herself in her summer reading list for the upcoming school year brings her to a local cafe. It's at this cafe where she first sees Vincent. Besides being the most breathtakingly beautiful boy.. er man she has ever laid eyes on, he is also dangerous looking. Before the death of her parents Kate would never have given him a second thought, but now... now she can't seem to stop thinking about him. Once Vincent is secured in Kate's life, she can't help but to question things about him. Why he is so secretive, and how he always manages to evade questions about himself. Then while doing research at the library she comes across an old news article. It features a picture of a beautiful young man that died in a fire, almost 40 years ago. All of a sudden Kate seems to be thrust into the middle of a paranormal universe. Within the universe there is a battle of good and evil. She knows she is on the side of good, but now she finds out her sister may not be so lucky, and the only way to save her may just be by sacrificing herself. I loved the way the characters are described, and the way the descriptions of the surroundings make them town come to life. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone 14 and older :) -Danielle
