A very fun book, with a dark, disturbing world and an engaging protagonist. Green manages to combine the hard-boiled PI stereotype and the dark-underworld sterotypes and come out with something entirely new. Fair warning; this series is not for the weak at heart or those with especially vivid imagination as Green paints very spare but very vivid word pictures. A brief mention of some disturbing things several books on gave me nightmares for a week. The one thing I disliked about this book is Green's annoying habit of conveying exposition through dialogue. It isn't to the level of "As-you-know-Bob," fortunately, just some characters giving far more information than is necessary or wanted by the other characters. It's particularly irritating because all Green would have to do is put that exposition in narration as opposed to dialogue and it wouldn't grate nearly as much. Regardless, a fun book, a good read, and definitely worth the dollar.

Cerita ini sebenarnya cukup menarik tapi sedikit “dewasa”....:) dikarenakan tokoh yang menjadi peran utama ternyata sudah berkeluarga – Rayhan dan Amira. Pertemuan yang tidak sengaja antara Rayhan dan Amira membuat mereka menjadi saling kenal dan akhirnya menuju suatu hubungan Pernikahan. Tetapi setelah mereka berdua menjadi sebuah keluarga, Amira yang merasakan ada perbedaan yang terjadi kepada Rayhana dan mengetahui kebenaran bahwa Rayhan telah selingkuh dengan wanita lain, bernama Elsa dan telah positif hamil. Perpisahan antara Amira dan Rayhan akhirnya terjadi dan Rayhan akhirnya bersama dengan Elsa, sampai Kirana, anak dari Rayhana dan Elsa. Tetapi disaat Kirana lahir kedunia, Elsa harus meninggal dan Rayhan yang sempat hidup dengan kerjaan baik dan kehidupan yang mapan sudah berbalik arah. Selama 5 tahun bersama dengan Kirana dan mereka berdua mencoba untuk hidup lebih baik di jogja. Tetapi mungkin memang sudah takdir, pada saat diJogja, Kirana yang disekolahkan di sebuah TK dan guru TK disekolah itu ternyata adalah Amira. Pertemuan antara Amira dan Rayhan tidak bisa dihindarkan

Yes this series is certainly Hot! All you have to do is flip through the pages and steam almost literally comes out of the pages. I shouldn't like the series and that is why I give it two stars. I know you can hate me but the amount of profanity especially a certain word can be found at least once on every page. A couple of times I stopped reading, removed my bookmark and knew it was best for me just not to continue. Obviously it didn't last the temptation was too strong and I was too weak. Even though the girls are the same the story is still so similair between all three books. Simone excels and compelling and likable characters even when they are gang-bangers with a potty mouth and sleep around. Those in general are not characteristics I like in main characters yet she makes you really like this bad boy Fuentos brothers. I hope Simone writes more maybe more like her "How to Ruin" series that are a little cleaner.

Excellent research. Tells the tale of the first Americans to fight the Germans in WWII. I've read a lot of WWII history, and this is the first I've heard of these brave men. Also follows the top German aces as they fight in the Battle of Britain.

I wasn't as vested in this mystery as I was in the first Ursula Marlowe book, Consequences of Sin. The whole Egyptian/Russian past lover story wasn't as interesting as the plotline of Ursula dealing with business and her relationship with Lord Wrotham. The ending leaves quite a cliffhanger, so the next book should be interesting.

After months of reading, I finally finished Dower's Pulitzer Prize winning _Embracing Defeat_. At times I felt Dower's different tangents did not connect and relate to each other as much as I would have liked, but his Epilogue was fantastic and his arguments convincing. Dower wrote a great section on censorship in Japan under SCAP. His chapters on the drafting of the 1947 constitution, the Tokyo war crimes tribunal, and engineering growth were excellent. His sources are diverse. And the book is well-written. He has a lot to say about hypocrisy in postwar Japan, the role of the U.S. in buttressing conservative factions while pursuing a Cold War policy of "reverse course", and war responsibility. It's worth reading. It just takes a helluva long time...
