Hasta el papa se interesó en las visiones y las pronunció auténticas. Este libro contiene la biografía que otro eclesiástico escribió algo después de la muerte de Hildegard, extractos de su correspondencia, dibujos coloridos reproducidos de algunos manuscritos de los libros de Hildegard junto con pasajes del texto, y unas canciones religiosas que Hildegard también escribía. Yo siempre tuve un imagen del cristianismo medieval como una religión que manejaba todo por instituciones y jerarquías, pero este libro me sorprendió mostrando que también se manifestaba en experiencias personales.

Perhaps the darkest of Hornby's novels, this one deals with a group of people that all meet at the same place to commit suicide but end up going on several adventures together and forming some bonds with each other, at least temporarily. It is a great story about human nature and what unites and divides us, again delivered by Hornby with just enough wit to keep it real and readable.

I stole a Clive Cussler book from the grab-a-book/leave-a-book pile at the resort in Playa Del Carmen. They are not very sophisticated but they're kind of fun. Kind of like Dean Koontz. Fluffy fun.

** spoiler alert ** Cute Christmas romance--Sarah Collier's 15-year-old self completely bought into her grandmother's charming story about Kismet Cookies. They bake them on Christmas Eve, and when you sleep with one under your pillow, you'll dream of your one true love. Well, Sarah's dreamt of Travis Walker, her grandmother's next door neighbor's son, for years. Although he's five years older than she, he's always been kind and friendly, and she's cherished that hope that he'll love her too, for quite some time. Overwhelmed by the unexpected news that he's getting married that Christmas morning, she impulsively runs all the way to the church to declare in front of God and all the guests that he can't marry Crystal because he's HER true love. Fast forward eight or nine years, and Sarah's now a best selling children's author, Sadie Cool. Travis's very sick eight-year-old daughter Jasmine, Jazzy for short, is her biggest fan. Circumstances in the form of Twilight's Cookie Club (yes, the same women who populate the quilting and knitting clubs of the previous stories set in Twilight) conspire to get her to return to Twilight to fulfill Jazzy's Christmas wish and maybe bring out some fulfilled dreams for Sarah/Sadie and Travis, too. While I enjoyed the small-town feel and the secondary characters quite a bit, some of the plotting and characterization really seemed a little too sappy for me; it all worked out in the end, but all the handwringing and drama and heartwarming stuff was just too much for me to love.
